Il produttore non ha paura di installare AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS. Abbiamo dato un'occhiata più da vicino al Geekom AX8 Pro e abbiamo classificato le sue prestazioni in base a numerose misurazioni e benchmark in questa recensione.

Dal punto di vista visivo, Geekom AX8 Pro è sicuramente un'attrazione. Geekom attinge al proprio portafoglio e installa un AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS. Il SoC AMD dovrebbe portare un aumento significativo delle prestazioni in termini di prestazioni 3D, dato che Geekom non ha ancora utilizzato i processori Meteor Lake. Nella configurazione top, sono installati 32 GB di RAM DDR5 e un SSD da 2 TB. Abbiamo già visto diverse volte in passato che Geekom non commercializza necessariamente dispositivi economici. La base del Geekom AX8 Pro è identica a quella del Geekom XT13 Pro che a sua volta condivide l'alloggiamento con il Geekom XT12 Pro. Come controparte AMD, il Geekom AX8 Pro ha la possibilità di dimostrare le sue prestazioni con la stessa base compatta. I dispositivi differiscono solo visivamente, in quanto l'alloggiamento del Geekom AX8 Pro è dipinto di blu. I componenti bianchi e argento delle controparti interne sono, come sempre, di ottima qualità e si adattano perfettamente. Tuttavia, ci sono differenze di colore dovute ai diversi materiali. L'involucro è prevalentemente in metallo, anche se il coperchio e la parte inferiore sono in plastica. Con soli 548 grammi, il nostro dispositivo di prova è leggero e il Geekom è anche molto poco ingombrante in termini di ingombro (11,7 x 11,2 centimetri). Il Geekom AX8 Pro può essere fissato direttamente a un monitor utilizzando la staffa VESA in dotazione.

Per quanto riguarda le interfacce esterne, il Geekom AX8 Pro non può competere con la sua controparte Intel, alias Geekom XT13 Pro. A prima vista, le differenze sono minime, ma a un'analisi più approfondita risulta evidente che il Geekom AX8 Pro dispone solo di un'interfaccia USB4. Questo non è un male, in quanto le opzioni di espansione sono ancora presenti. Anche la funzionalità Thunderbolt è stata omessa. I modelli Intel (ad esempio Intel NUC 13 Pro Desk Edition Kit), che una volta era stata lanciata come serie NUC e ora è commercializzata da Asus, offrono comunque il supporto Thunderbolt. Il layout dell'interfaccia è identico e il Geekom AX8 Pro guadagna punti in termini di numeri, nonostante il suo design compatto.

Il Geekom AX8 Pro dispone di un modulo wireless familiare che abbiamo già trovato in altri mini PC Geekom. Il modulo WLAN MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 può gestire anche la più recente gamma di frequenze a 6 GHz, se il router offre questa opzione. Secondo i risultati dei nostri test, questa opzione è consigliata, in quanto le velocità di trasferimento sono notevolmente migliori rispetto a una connessione nella gamma di frequenza dei 5 GHz. Per il test abbiamo utilizzato il router Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000. In alternativa, l'utente ha a disposizione anche una presa RJ45 da 2,5 Gbit/s.

Manutenzione

Il Geekom AX8 Pro può essere aperto dal lato inferiore senza grossi ostacoli: È necessario allentare solo quattro piccole viti. La piastra di base funge anche da elemento di raffreddamento passivo per l'SSD. La RAM e la memoria di massa possono essere sostituite, se necessario. Geekom AX8 Pro è un mini PC molto compatto. Tuttavia, il produttore confeziona il dispositivo con accessori maneggevoli in una scatola relativamente grande. Le dimensioni sono molto simili alla confezione del Geekom XT13 Pro. Il Geekom XT12 Pro, invece, è stato consegnato in una confezione molto più piccola. Il dispositivo stesso è realizzato prevalentemente in metallo e plastica. Tuttavia, non sappiamo se il produttore utilizza materiali appositamente riciclati per la sua produzione. Geekom riceve elogi per il periodo di garanzia di 36 mesi.

Prestazioni - Tanta potenza grazie a AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS

Il AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS è un processore di fascia alta e offre una potenza più che sufficiente per la maggior parte delle applicazioni. Se deve svolgere solo attività d'ufficio rudimentali, può anche optare per un dispositivo meno potente. In alternativa, il Geekom AX8 Pro può anche essere dotato del processore leggermente più debole AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS è anche disponibile. Entrambi i SoC sono nativi a 8 core e offrono 16 unità di calcolo logiche. Per quanto riguarda la RAM, 32 GB di RAM DDR5 sono sempre una buona scelta, anche se è necessario installare almeno 1 TB per la memoria di massa.

Condizioni del test

Utilizziamo il profilo energetico "Bilanciato" per tutti i test sulle prestazioni con il Geekom AX8 Pro. Ci sono state solo deviazioni da questo nelle misurazioni del consumo energetico e del rumore secondo i nostri Criteri di test. In conformità alle specifiche del produttore, Geekom consente al SoC di funzionare con il consumo energetico più basso. In cifre, questo significa un limite di potenza di 45 watt sotto carico continuo, anche se sono consentiti fino a 60 watt per brevi periodi. Il BIOS stesso è molto semplice e non consente praticamente alcuna modifica. Non è possibile modificare i limiti di potenza del SoC e l'allocazione della RAM per l'iGPU. Solo le preimpostazioni della ventola possono essere modificate. La modalità Performance è attivata per impostazione predefinita.

Processore

Il Geekom AX8 Pro è dotato di un AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, che si trova anche nel Geekom A8. In un duello diretto, tuttavia, l'AX8 Pro deve ammettere la sconfitta con l'A8. Tuttavia, con una differenza di soli due punti percentuali nella valutazione delle prestazioni, possiamo affermare che entrambi i dispositivi offrono prestazioni quasi identiche. Nei singoli test, il Geekom AX8 Pro non riesce sempre a prevalere sui suoi concorrenti. Il Geekom AX8 Pro non convince in termini di latenza. Documentiamo valori altrettanto elevati per il Geekom XT13 Pro. Anche la semplice navigazione in Internet comporta valori DPC elevati. La riproduzione del video di prova 4K e il breve stress test non influiscono negativamente sui valori DPC. L'utilizzo dell'iGPU è notevolmente elevato, con oltre il 60 percento durante la riproduzione del video. L'iGPU del Geekom A7 è stata utilizzata solo al 30 percento nello stesso test. Un risultato simile a quello del Geekom AX8 Pro era già stato ottenuto dal Geekom A8che abbiamo testato anche nella configurazione con AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS.

Geekom AX8 Pro dispone di un SSD con 2 TB di spazio di archiviazione nella configurazione superiore. Più precisamente, Geekom ha installato qui un Acer N7000. Fisicamente, l'archiviazione di massa è collegata in modo ottimale, con conseguenti elevate velocità di trasferimento nel test. Tuttavia, l'SSD nel Geekom AX8 Pro non è in grado di fornire le prestazioni che abbiamo ottenuto con il Geekom XT13 Pro. Non si nota alcuna differenza di prestazioni durante l'uso normale. Lo stress test mostra prestazioni eccellenti. Con una piccola eccezione, abbiamo documentato una prestazione di lettura stabile. L'unità di raffreddamento passiva è sufficiente per dissipare il calore abbastanza rapidamente. Nel Geekom AX8 Pro è possibile installare un solo dispositivo di archiviazione di massa. Prestazioni di gioco

Le buone prestazioni della AMD Radeon 780M che abbiamo documentato nei benchmark sintetici, è evidente anche nei test di gioco. Tuttavia, va notato che si tratta di una iGPU e non può tenere il passo con i dispositivi con adattatori grafici dedicati. In un confronto diretto con i suoi concorrenti, il Geekom AX8 Pro conferma ampiamente le prestazioni della AMD Radeon 780M. Abbiamo un leggero svantaggio in termini di prestazioni nei giochi più recenti, dovuto al basso consumo energetico del SoC.

Geekom AX8 Pro verifica le prestazioni con una Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

Come già accennato per le connessioni, il Geekom AX8 Pro dispone di una porta USB4, che consente l'utilizzo di schede grafiche esterne. Abbiamo condotto alcuni test in combinazione con il Razer Core X e una scheda grafica Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti realizzato. I test rivelano un aumento significativo delle prestazioni rispetto alla scheda grafica AMD Radeon 780M. Il Geekom AX8 Pro offre prestazioni quasi identiche ai dispositivi di confronto nei test sintetici. Nei test di gioco, i dispositivi alimentati da AMD presentano alcuni chiari vantaggi.

In questa combinazione, il mini PC può gestire molti giochi che prima erano giocabili solo con limitazioni significative. A volte la combinazione offre anche prestazioni sufficienti per godersi i giochi a 1.440p senza dover sacrificare i dettagli.

Emissioni di rumore

Grazie al suo design compatto, il Geekom AX8 Pro è dotato di una piccola unità di raffreddamento. Quando è al minimo, funziona in modo silenzioso, il che è eccellente. Tuttavia, questo cambia rapidamente sotto carico, e a 50 dB(A) abbiamo misurato un livello di pressione sonora che non può essere ignorato. Il rumore della ventola ad alta frequenza contribuisce al fatto che il volume viene percepito soggettivamente come ancora più forte. Il profilo di prestazioni per la velocità della ventola è attivato di default nel BIOS. In alternativa, ci sono altre due opzioni tra cui scegliere. Abbiamo anche effettuato uno stress test con il profilo della ventola silenziosa e siamo riusciti a misurare solo un leggero miglioramento. Con 48 dB(A), il dispositivo è ancora significativamente più rumoroso di alcuni dei suoi concorrenti. Il design, in combinazione con il potente hardware, è un ostacolo importante quando si tratta di rumore operativo.

Temperatura

Non siamo riusciti a documentare alcuna temperatura superficiale critica al minimo o sotto carico. L'aria fresca viene aspirata dai lati e poi espulsa dall'involucro nella parte posteriore. Le temperature sul retro sono di conseguenza leggermente più alte. Con l'AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, abbiamo raggiunto poco meno di 93 °C nello stress test, il che non è ancora motivo di preoccupazione. Secondo AMD, il SoC è specificato con una temperatura massima di funzionamento fino a 100 °C. Il valore massimo raggiunto nel nostro test viene raggiunto solo per un breve periodo di tempo, in quanto al SoC è consentito un massimo di 60 watt. Nel test di stress Prime95, la temperatura media della CPU si stabilizza a 87 °C, anche se si raggiunge un consumo energetico permanente di 45 watt.

Il Geekom AX8 Pro sorprende con buoni risultati in termini di consumo energetico. Tuttavia, il nostro campione di prova non è uno dei dispositivi più economici. Il Geekom AX8 Pro richiede più energia rispetto ai suoi concorrenti, soprattutto quando è inattivo. Il consumo medio sotto carico si attesta a 76,4 watt, che è circa lo stesso rispetto ai dispositivi dotati di SoC AMD. L'alimentatore da 120 watt richiede un massimo di 99,1 watt.

Il Geekom AX8 Pro si basa su una piattaforma NUC e dispone di un sistema AMD Ryzen 9 8945HSche offre molte prestazioni. Tuttavia, il design compatto impedisce un migliore sviluppo delle prestazioni con un livello di rumore inferiore. Il design di Geekom AX8 Pro non è fondamentalmente nuovo, in quanto anche altri dispositivi sulla stessa base hanno mostrato debolezze simili in termini di emissioni. In termini di colore, il Geekom AX8 Pro si distingue chiaramente dai dispositivi identici con processori Intel. Tuttavia, se le piace il concetto di colore blu è una questione di opinione. Per portare una ventata di aria fresca nel portafoglio del produttore, Geekom dovrebbe valutare se continuare con questo design. Un mini PC compatto con molta potenza è certamente un buon approccio. Geekom fa qualche compromesso quando si tratta di connessioni esterne. Tuttavia, il Geekom AX8 Pro offre tutte le connessioni importanti. È installata persino un'interfaccia USB4. Tuttavia, il Geekom AX8 Pro è molto lontano dalla connettività perfetta. Molti mini PC sono già dotati di due porte USB4 e di una connessione OCuLink. Anche il supporto Thunderbolt non è disponibile.
