Dai connettori fusi che si ripresentano, ai chip difettosi con hardware mancante, alle forniture anemiche e ai prezzi gonfiati a causa del bagarinaggio, il lancio della serie RTX 50 è stato tutt'altro che stellare. Tuttavia, l'arrivo della RTX 5070 offre a Nvidia un'ulteriore possibilità di correggere la rotta.

I piani di Nvidia per una RTX 5060 o una RTX 5050 più avanti non sono chiari a questo punto, ma la RTX 5070 è attualmente la porta d'accesso a tutto ciò che Blackwell intende offrire.

Dal punto di vista delle prestazioni, la RTX 5070 riesce a superare la RTX 4070 Ti nei benchmark sintetici, nonostante un deficit del 20% nei core CUDA.

Il gioco, tuttavia, è un misto. Sebbene ci siano titoli che favoriscono i miglioramenti della memoria della RTX 5070, la RTX 4070 Ti tende ad avere un vantaggio minuscolo nel complesso.

Il vero punto di forza, però, è il supporto per la generazione multi-frame DLSS 4. Le audaci affermazioni di Nvidia sulle prestazioni paragonabili a quelle della RTX 4090 hanno un fondo di verità, ma questo è accompagnato da un grande asterisco.

Siamo onesti. Una GPU Blackwell limitata non potrà mai eguagliare le prestazioni grezze di un die Ada quasi completo. Detto questo, la RTX 5070 può fare un buon uso della MFG nei miseri giochi che la supportano, nonostante i problemi di latenza.

Sebbene sia una scheda entry-level, la RTX 5070 FE non delude quando si tratta delle basi. La sua qualità costruttiva è di prim'ordine, le emissioni sono ampiamente sotto controllo, a parte le ventole occasionalmente rumorose, e i guadagni di efficienza energetica rispetto alle offerte top di Nvidia e AMD sono piuttosto evidenti.

Tuttavia, non sarà una passeggiata per Nvidia con l'imminente lancio di RDNA 4 Radeon RX 9070 XT e RX 9070, in particolare con RX 9070 al prezzo di 549 dollari. Ciò diventa particolarmente preoccupante se si considera che la RTX 5070 offre solo 12 GB di VRAM, che impallidiscono rispetto ai 16 GB offerti dalla concorrenza.

Da un punto di vista puramente prestazionale, la RTX 5070 non dovrebbe avere problemi a trovare un buon numero di giocatori che necessitano principalmente di una GPU Ultra capace a 1080p o 1440p.

Tuttavia, Nvidia deve trovare la giusta disponibilità di scorte e il giusto prezzo per evitare che i potenziali clienti gravitino verso il Team Red.

In India, la RTX 5070 FE le costerà ₹60.000, ma le auguro di trovarla presso il suo rivenditore locale.

La generazione di GPU Blackwell di Nvidia, la GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080e la RTX 5070 Tihanno visto un'accoglienza tumultuosa finora. Ora siamo al lancio della GPU Blackwell entry-level, la RTX 5070.

Al prezzo di 549 dollari, la RTX 5070 FE costa 50 dollari in meno rispetto all'MSRP di lancio della RTX 4070. Nvidia ha sollevato diverse sopracciglia durante il suo keynote al CES 2025, sostenendo con un gioco di prestigio che la RTX 5070 da 549 dollari offre prestazioni paragonabili a quelle di una RTX 4090 da 1.599 dollari.

Da vicino con la RTX 5070 Founders Edition

La RTX 5070 FE si basa esattamente sullo stesso linguaggio di design delle altre schede RTX 50 Series FE. Con dimensioni di 24,5 x 10 x 4 cm e un peso di appena 1,1 kg, la RTX 5070 FE è molto più compatta delle già piccole RTX 5090 FE e RTX 5080 FE.

La GPU offre una serie di 3 uscite DisplayPort 2.1b con supporto UHBR20 e una singola uscita HDMI 2.1b, ormai standard nella generazione Blackwell.

Nonostante sia una GPU da 250 W, RTX 5070 FE utilizza il nuovo connettore di alimentazione 12V-2x6.

Non dovrebbe avere problemi a utilizzare i cavi 12VHPWR esistenti degli alimentatori ATX 3.x, ma tenga presente che i connettori ad angolo retto non si inseriscono nell'incavo angolato dell'estremità della GPU.

Nella confezione viene fornito un pratico adattatore da 16 pin a 2x 8 pin, che le consente di continuare a usare la sua vecchia e affidabile PSU senza alcun problema.

Fortunatamente, la nostra unità RTX 5070 FE ha tutte le 80 ROP abilitate (fiuuu!). La GPU dispone di 12 GB di VRAM GDDR7 su un'interfaccia di memoria a 192 bit, in grado di offrire una larghezza di banda teorica di 672 GB/s.

La RTX 5070 FE è in grado di eseguire un boost fino a 2.512 MHz, ma sono possibili clock di boost più elevati, a seconda della potenza disponibile e dello spazio termico.

La scheda ha un TGP di 250 W per impostazione predefinita. È possibile aumentare ulteriormente l'obiettivo di potenza del 10%, ottenendo un TGP di 275 W.

La RTX 5070 FE riesce a superare leggermente la Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Master del 4% nei benchmark sintetici cumulativi, nonostante abbia il 20% in meno di core CUDA. MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Ventus 3X OC supera la RTX 5070 FE di un significativo 21%.

D'altra parte, il numero maggiore di core della RTX 4070 Ti le conferisce un vantaggio simile in test specifici come 3DMark Port Royal, Steel Nomad, e Time Spy Graphics.

I benchmark Unigine vedono guadagni migliori per la RTX 5070 FE rispetto alla RTX 4070 Ti, con un vantaggio del 12% e del 7% rispettivamente nei test Unigine Valley Extreme HD e Superposition 8K Optimized.

Prestazioni del Ray Tracing

La RTX 5070 FE viene spinta al limite quando gestisce le attività di ray tracing. I 12 GB di VRAM GDDR7 si rivelano anemici per il 2025, dato che titoli pesanti dal punto di vista della VRAM, come Indiana Jones e il Grande Cerchio, si bloccano subito sul desktop anche con un path tracing minimo attivato, nonostante l'assistenza DLSS e la generazione di fotogrammi.

Star Wars Outlaws e Black Myth: Wukong possono offrire tassi di frame giocabili a 1440p e 4K con un po' di aiuto per l'upscaling grazie alle tecniche di DLSS, generazione di frame e ricostruzione dei raggi.

Alan Wake 2 mette in scena una presentazione a 4K con le impostazioni High ray tracing, ma l'aggiunta del DLSS e della generazione di fotogrammi può farle ottenere tassi di frame decenti a 4K.

Allo stesso modo, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty può essere difficile da giocare con il preset nativo 4K Ray tracing Ultra con RTX 5070 FE, anche se la scheda può gestire abbastanza bene il ray tracing nativo a 1080p.

Generazione multi-frame DLSS 4

La generazione Blackwell vede il debutto di DLSS 4, che utilizza un nuovo modello di trasformatore che, a quanto pare, offre una maggiore fedeltà visiva rispetto alla rete neurale convenzionale (CNN) che era in voga fino a DLSS 3.

Mentre DLSS 4 arriverà su tutte le GPU RTX, comprese quelle risalenti alla generazione Turing, solo le schede Blackwell supportano la generazione multi-frame (MFG).

La RTX 5070 FE trae grandi vantaggi dalla DLSS 4 MFG nei titoli supportati. Ad esempio, in Alan Wake 2, la RTX 5070 FE gestisce una media di 90 fps a 4K con MFG 4x e impostazioni di ray tracing Ultra, avvicinandosi alla media di 108 fps della RTX 4090 con generazione di fotogrammi standard nel preset di ray tracing Alto.

Star Wars Outlaws vede la RTX 5070 FE ottenere una media di 87 fps con impostazioni di ray tracing 4K Ultra con 4x MFG, avvicinandosi alla media di 90 fps della RTX 4090 con generazione di fotogrammi convenzionale.

Sebbene la RTX 5070 non sia all'altezza di una RTX 4090 in termini di potenza pura, la generazione multi-frame aiuta a offrire un gameplay più fluido con impostazioni impegnative a un prezzo inferiore.

È possibile aggiungere la funzionalità MFG ai titoli supportati tramite l'applicazione Nvidia, anche se gli sviluppatori non l'hanno ancora implementata nel gioco.

Emissioni: Temperature superficiali relativamente basse, ma elevata rumorosità della ventola sotto carico

Essendo una scheda Founders Edition, la RTX 5070 FE presenta lo stesso design di raffreddamento dei suoi cugini più grandi, ma senza un materiale di interfaccia termica in metallo liquido.

Le prese d'aria posteriori sono sottilmente angolari per una ventilazione efficiente. Poiché l'aria calda è diretta verso la parte superiore del telaio, si consiglia di posizionare il radiatore verso la parte superiore del case per coloro che utilizzano un raffreddatore all-in-one.

Test da sforzo

La RTX 5070 FE raggiunge un clock massimo di 2.700 MHz con un consumo di 252 W quando viene sottoposta a un carico FurMark a 1.280 x 720 senza AA.

Tuttavia, questa frequenza non viene mantenuta a lungo e i clock medi si avvicinano ai 2.500 MHz a 250 W, con una temperatura del nucleo di 78,4 °C.

Lo stress con Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty a 1080p Ultra vede la RTX 5070 FE raggiungere un boost di 2.512 MHz a 209 W

I clock medi durante questo stress si aggirano ancora una volta intorno ai 2.500 MHz, ma il consumo energetico scende a 197 W con temperature medie del nucleo di 69 °C.

L'aumento dell'obiettivo di potenza al 110% comporta un consumo energetico e temperature del core più elevati, senza alcun aumento percepibile della frequenza della GPU.

Le temperature di superficie rimangono ampiamente gestibili in condizioni ambientali di 23 °C. Abbiamo misurato 36 °C sul rivestimento anteriore e quasi 46 °C sul retro della scheda.

Il design compatto della scheda fa sì che le ventole debbano lavorare più intensamente a volte, a seconda del carico, il che può portare a livelli di rumore elevati.

Abbiamo registrato un livello di pressione sonora (SPL) di 46,52 db(A) durante lo stress con FurMark a 1.280 x 720 senza AA con un obiettivo di potenza del 100%. Alzando l'obiettivo di potenza al 110% si ottiene un SPL significativamente più alto, pari a 53,10 dB(A).

Detto questo, è improbabile che la maggior parte dei carichi di lavoro di gioco spingano le ventole al limite. La RTX 5070 FE consuma il 12% di energia in meno rispetto alla RTX 4070 Ti Master di Aorus in FurMark. Anche il consumo energetico durante l'esecuzione di Cyberpunk 2077 e The Witcher 3 mostra tendenze simili.

La GPU GB205 eguaglia anche la RTX 5090 e la RX 7900 XT nell'efficienza energetica durante l'esecuzione di Cyberpunk 2077.

In Witcher 3 la RTX 5070 FE raggiunge i livelli di efficienza della RTX 4090, mentre è più efficiente dell'8% e del 19% rispetto alla RTX 4070 Ti Master e alla RX 7900 XT, rispettivamente.
