Sembra una farfalla, punge come un'anguilla.

Il Ryzen 7 7840HS e la Radeon 780M integrata consolidano ulteriormente lo status di AMD come potenza dei mini PC. I primi modelli Beelink erano visti come alternative a basso costo ai NUC di Intel, ma l'ultimo GTR7 ora supera la maggior parte delle opzioni di Intel.

Il GTR7 è l'ultimo mini PC di Beelink progettato con CPU della serie H per utenti ad alte prestazioni. È uno dei primi della sua categoria a essere fornito con lo Zen 4 Ryzen 7 7840HS, mentre il SER6 dell'anno scorso veniva fornito con lo Zen 3+ Ryzen 9 6900HX.

La nostra unità di recensione è configurata con CPU Ryzen 7 7840HS, GPU Radeon 780M integrata, 32 GB di RAM DDR5-5600 e SSD NVMe da 1 TB per circa 780 dollari. Al momento non sono disponibili altre opzioni per CPU, RAM o SSD. Speriamo in una versione "barebone" nel prossimo futuro.

Caso - Mettere su peso

Le serie GTR e GTI di Beelink sono mini PC di fascia alta rispetto alle serie SER e SEI, più piccole e meno costose. Pertanto, il GTR è progettato in modo più complesso con materiali metallici paragonabili a quelli che si trovano su un Intel NUC. Tutti e sei i lati sono in metallo rigido, compresa la maglia superiore, che nel vecchio design del GTR6 era in tessuto più morbido vecchio design GTR6. Apprezziamo in particolare l'assenza di superfici in plastica lucida che tendono ad attirare facilmente graffi e impronte digitali.

Sono disponibili quattro opzioni di colore: Verde, Grigio, Arancione e Blu. Queste opzioni sono degne di nota perché non sono comuni nei mini PC, dove il nero è di gran lunga l'unico colore.

Il GTR7 mantiene l'ingombro del vecchio GTR6, ma con un profilo più spesso e un peso maggiore, probabilmente a causa della revisione dei componenti interni e dell'aggiunta di un radiatore a camera di vapore. Ora è uno dei mini PC più grandi e pesanti del mercato, esclusi quelli con GPU discreta.

Connettività: un'ampia scelta

Mentre le porte sulla parte anteriore non sono cambiate rispetto al SER6 dell'anno scorso, quelle sulla parte posteriore sono diverse. La porta dell'adattatore CA è stata ridisegnata per essere magnetica, mentre due delle quattro porte HDMI sono state abbandonate a favore di una DisplayPort full-size.

Secondo il produttore, le due porte USB-C posteriori supportano USB4 e eGPU, come il GTR6 dello scorso anno. Tuttavia, si noti che la porta USB-C anteriore non supporta la DisplayPort e quindi i monitor esterni sono compatibili solo con le porte USB-C posteriori.

Avremmo preferito un adattatore USB-C universale, simile alla maggior parte degli Ultrabook di oggi, invece di uno magnetico proprietario. Il tentativo di alimentare l'unità con il nostro adattatore CA USB-C da 130 W di Dell comportava uno spegnimento automatico pochi secondi dopo.

Questo è anche uno dei pochissimi mini PC consumer con due porte RJ-45 da 2,5 Gbps e due porte per cuffie da 3,5 mm. La maggior parte degli utenti probabilmente non ne avrà bisogno, ma l'opzione è comunque presente.

Comunicazione - No W-Fi 6E

Il sistema è dotato di un vecchio modulo Intel AX200 invece della più recente serie AX210/211. Pertanto, il Wi-Fi 6E o 6 GHz non è supportato dalla scatola, il che è un po' deludente se si considerano il design e le prestazioni di fascia alta di questa serie di modelli. Le velocità di trasferimento sono comunque costanti quando viene accoppiato alla nostra rete Wi-Fi 6 AXE11000.

Manutenzione

Prima di accedere alla scheda madre è necessario rimuovere due strati: la piastra metallica esterna e la staffa interna della ventola, come mostrato nelle immagini sottostanti. Entrambi i pezzi sono fortunatamente facili da rimuovere con un semplice cacciavite Phillips. Gli utenti possono installare fino a due moduli SODIMM, due unità SSD M.2 2280 PCIe4 x4 NVMe e un singolo modulo WLAN.

Purtroppo, l'altro lato della scheda madre con la CPU e la camera di vapore non sono stati progettati per essere facilmente accessibili. La pulizia è quindi difficile, poiché tra la camera di vapore e il coperchio a rete superiore si trova una ventola più grande che non può essere raggiunta facilmente.

Accessori e garanzia

La confezione include una staffa VESA per il montaggio a parete, un manuale, un cavo HDMI e un adattatore di alimentazione CA a seconda della regione. Il coperchio superiore non è rimovibile, come nei modelli precedenti di Beelink.

Se acquistato negli Stati Uniti, il prodotto è coperto da una garanzia limitata di un anno.

Condizioni di test

Abbiamo impostato la nostra unità in modalità Performance tramite Windows prima di eseguire i benchmark qui sotto. Non ci sono applicazioni specializzate "Command Center" o altro bloatware preinstallato incluso nel mini PC. Le impostazioni di AMD Precision Boost Overdrive sono disponibili attraverso il BIOS, ma sono impostate di default su Auto.

Se si tenta di installare i driver AMD tramite il programma di installazione automatica ufficiale di AMD, si ottengono ogni volta messaggi di errore.

Processore

Abbiamo grandi speranze per lo Zen 4 Ryzen 7 7840HS dopo il deludente Zen 3Ryzen 7 7735HS il mese scorso. Fortunatamente, il processore è riuscito a ottenere risultati eccellenti, paragonabili a quelli del Core i7-12700H e Core i7-13700H. Non è neanche lontanamente paragonabile all'esigente Ryzen 9 7945HX o Core i9-13900HXma è comunque sensibilmente più veloce della maggior parte degli altri mini PC, compreso il più recente Intel NUC 13 Pro.

Anche la stabilità delle prestazioni è eccellente e non ci sono cali di prestazioni anche quando viene sollecitato per lunghi periodi. Aggiornamento dallo Zen 3+ di appena un anno fa Ryzen 9 6900HX può aumentare le prestazioni multi-thread di circa il 35%.

I punteggi di PCMark sono tra i più alti per qualsiasi mini PC non dotato di grafica discreta. Il GTR7 presenta i maggiori vantaggi rispetto al NUC 13 Pro nei sottotest Produttività e Creazione di contenuti digitali, dove le prestazioni del processore e della grafica sono più importanti.

Vale la pena notare che i risultati della memoria AIDA64 sono piuttosto elevati anche se confrontati con quelli di portatili da gioco come l'MSI Stealth GS66. Latenza DPC

La nostra unità ha mostrato problemi di latenza DPC e 58 cadute di fotogrammi durante il nostro video di test 4K60 della durata di un minuto, anche dopo vari test. Quest'ultimo, in particolare, è un problema notevole perché significa che i flussi video 4K di Netflix, Hulu e altri possono presentare salti di fotogrammi o balbettii non necessari, mentre la maggior parte degli altri mini PC o laptop li trasmette senza problemi. Un problema simile è stato su alcuni vecchi portatili Zen 2 prima che venisse rapidamente risolto con una patch e quindi speriamo che la soluzione arrivi al più presto.

Prestazioni della GPU - Grafica della PlayStation 4

La Radeon 680M integrata dello scorso anno Radeon 680M era già un passo avanti rispetto alla concorrente Serie Iris Xe e la Radeon 780M di quest'anno Radeon 780M aggiunge ulteriore sale alla ferita per Intel. Le prestazioni grafiche sono più veloci del 10-20% rispetto alla Radeon 680M, per un incremento complessivo dell'1,5-1,75% rispetto alle Iris Xe 96 EU. Le prestazioni sono migliorate soprattutto quando si eseguono titoli DX12, che erano un po' il punto debole della Radeon 680M.

Stranamente, il benchmark Blender v3.3 Classroom HIP non è stato eseguito correttamente sulla nostra unità, anche dopo vari tentativi e aggiornamenti dei driver. Questo è un peccato perché la scena Classroom sarebbe stata renderizzata circa 3 minuti più velocemente che senza l'accelerazione HIP.

Rumore del sistema: meno ventole fastidiose

La soluzione di raffreddamento consiste in due ventole asimmetriche e in un raffreddatore a camera di vapore. Non è raro vedere due ventole per un mini PC come nel caso delMinisforum Mercury Series EM680ma la camera di vapore è solitamente riservata alle GPU desktop di fascia alta e ai portatili da gioco.

Il rumore della ventola è cambiato in meglio rispetto al GTR6 dell'anno scorso. In particolare, le nostre lamentele per le frequenti pulsazioni sono state affrontate per ottenere livelli di rumore della ventola più stabili. Ad esempio, il rumore della ventola sul GTR6 passava da un livello silenzioso a un massimo di 36 dB(A) durante i carichi ridotti, come la navigazione o lo streaming video, mentre il GTR7 era molto più silenzioso, tra i 28 e i 32 dB(A).

L'esecuzione di carichi più elevati, come i giochi, può indurre un livello di rumorosità della ventola compreso tra 36 e 43 dB(A), che si colloca nello stesso intervallo dell'Intel NUC 13 Pro Intel NUC 13 Pro ma comunque molto più rumoroso del Minisforum Mercury Series EM680. L'intervallo di 40 dB(A) è tipico anche di molti portatili della serie Core U con carichi simili.

L'aria fredda entra dall'alto e il calore residuo esce dalla parte posteriore, come mostrano le mappe di temperatura qui sotto. Pertanto, per preservare un flusso d'aria ottimale, non è consigliabile collocare alcun oggetto in alto. Tuttavia, la posizione verticale dell'unità sembra essere sicura.

Tenete presente che il calore di scarico dalla parte posteriore può essere molto caldo, fino a 50 C, più caldo di quello di molti altri mini PC, compresi quelli dello stesso produttore. Per motivi di sicurezza, assicurarsi di lasciare un ampio spazio tra la parte posteriore dell'unità e la parete.

Stress test

Quando è stata sottoposta a Prime95, la CPU ha raggiunto i 2,8 GHz e i 35 W, per poi aumentare costantemente fino a raggiungere i 3,6 GHz, i 60 W e i 76 C. L'aumento relativamente lento significa che potrebbe essere più difficile sfruttare l'elevata velocità di clock del processore in brevi periodi, come quando si modificano le immagini o si avviano le applicazioni. Ripetendo il test Prime95 sul GTR6 dell'anno scorso GTR6 avrebbe portato a velocità di clock stabili più basse e a una temperatura del nucleo più bassa di circa 10 gradi.

Eseguendo Witcher 3 per rappresentare i carichi di gioco tipici mostrerebbe risultati simili: velocità di clock della GPU più elevate rispetto al GTR6 (2700 MHz contro 1977 MHz), ma anche temperature del nucleo più calde (68 C contro 56 C).

Gestione dell'energia - Da un grande potere derivano grandi esigenze

Consumo di energia

Il Ryzen 7 7840HS è sicuramente veloce, ma anche la richiesta di energia è superiore. Rispetto al SER6 con Ryzen 7 7735H, il nostro GTR7 richiede fino al 30% di energia in più durante l'esecuzione di giochi e quasi il 50% in più durante lo stress Prime95. Queste differenze sono sufficienti a rendere il Beelink uno dei mini PC più affamati di energia, esclusi quelli con GPU discreta.

È interessante notare che il consumo aumenta lentamente quando si avvia lo stress Prime95, come mostrano i grafici sottostanti, mentre l'opposto è vero per la maggior parte degli altri portatili e mini PC. Questo comportamento è in linea con le osservazioni dello stress test di cui sopra, in cui anche le frequenze di clock e l'assorbimento di potenza della scheda aumentavano costantemente prima di stabilizzarsi su valori stabili.

Siamo riusciti a misurare un assorbimento massimo di 112 W dal piccolo (~6,9 x 6,9 x 3 cm) adattatore CA da 100 W quando si eseguono contemporaneamente Prime95 e FurMark. Il sistema avrebbe potuto trarre vantaggio da un adattatore CA di capacità superiore.

Il Beelink GTR7 migliora i punti di forza del GTR6. La CPU e l'iGPU, che erano già tra le più veloci del 2022, sono ora ancora più veloci per il refresh di quest'anno. Il GTR7 è uno dei pochi mini PC con grafica integrata in grado di eseguire i giochi più recenti e di essere un potente HTPC.

I miglioramenti non sono gratuiti, per così dire. I significativi aumenti di prestazioni richiedono una maggiore potenza di uscita rispetto a molti altri mini PC, che a sua volta comporta un maggiore calore, temperature più calde del nucleo, un nuovo dispositivo di raffreddamento a camera di vapore e, infine, un design del telaio più grande e più pesante. Non aspettatevi che il GTR7 sia così piccolo come molti NUC Intel.

Il GTR7 non è solo un rivale dell'Intel NUC, ma lo supera su molti fronti.

Alcuni bug dovrebbero essere risolti. La riproduzione video 4K60 balbettante, la mancanza di supporto per lo strumento AMD Auto-Detect and Install e i crash di Blender HIP sono tutti fattori che ostacolano direttamente la versatilità del GTR7. Ci piacerebbe vedere alcune modifiche per giustificare meglio l'aumento delle dimensioni rispetto all'anno precedente. Caratteristiche aggiuntive come il blocco Kensington, il lettore SD, una più facile accessibilità a entrambi i lati della scheda madre e il supporto predefinito per il Wi-Fi 6E renderebbero la già eccellente GTR7 una raccomandazione ancora più facile. Il concorrente Minisforum Mercury Series EM680, ad esempio, integra un raffreddamento a metallo liquido per una dissipazione del calore più efficiente.
