Iris Xe Max ha fatto poco per impressionare, ma lo stesso non si può dire della normale GPU Iris Xe 96 EUs. Con più di trenta computer portatili di 11a generazione sotto la nostra cintura, possiamo ora dipingere un quadro più ampio di come Iris Xe si comporta rispetto a tutte le GPU Ryzen Radeon Vega mobili attualmente disponibili.

Quando abbiamo primo benchmark Iris Xe all'inizio di ottobre del 2020, abbiamo trovato una una manciata di bug e crash specifici del gioco che alla fine hanno reso la GPU Intel meno affidabile della classica alternativa GeForce MX. Le prestazioni erano anche più instabili in alcuni titoli come GTA V o Apex Legends. Ora che siamo quasi a metà del 2021, abbiamo testato dozzine di altri laptop Tiger Lake che girano con driver aggiornati rispetto alla nostra unità iniziale Tiger Lake nel 2020. Intel ha da allora affrontato direttamente alcuni titoli problematici tra cui Horizon Zero Dawn(a partire dalla v27.20.100.9466) per consentire il gioco a impostazioni più basse

Stiamo anche iniziando ad avere un'idea migliore di come Iris Xe si confronti con l'attuale linea di CPU Ryzen mobile. In media, i frame rate sono paragonabili alla Radeon RX Vega 8 4000 che è attualmente la più veloce GPU integrata sulla piattaforma Zen 2 Ryzen 7 Lucienne di AMD. Altre GPU Radeon RX Vega integrate come la Vega 6, 9 o 10 sono tutte costantemente più lente di Iris Xe con margini relativamente ampi. Usare 3DMark per giudicare le differenze di prestazioni tra Iris Xe e Radeon RX Vega non è sempre affidabile e quindi abbiamo anche incluso dei benchmark di gioco nel mondo reale qui sotto. Alcuni titoli, come Final Fantast XV, favoriscono Iris Xe in modo significativo

Per quanto riguarda l'hypedIris Xe Maxle sue prestazioni di gioco non sono migliori di quelle della Iris Xe 96 EU standard, nonostante il suo nome possa suggerire altro. Questa particolare versione è stata progettata più per la creazione di contenuti e l'editing invece di giocare, come esemplificato dal Dell Inspiron 7506 2-in-1

In tutto, è uno spettacolo impressionante da Intel considerando che erano un ordine di grandezza dietro AMD in termini di prestazioni grafiche integrate solo un paio di anni fa. Improvvisamente, gli Ultrabooks con grafica GeForce MX sembrano meno attraenti e anche meno comuni in questo momento.
