Il Geekom Mini IT12 è un'interessante alternativa ai noti modelli Intel NUC. Il produttore taiwanese ha scelto un SoC mobile Intel Alder Lake. In questa recensione abbiamo dato un'occhiata più da vicino a ciò che questo mini PC può offrire e se può essere all'altezza del leader della categoria, Intel. Il Geekom Mini IT12 è un mini PC compatto ma estremamente potente. Il nostro dispositivo di prova è dotato di unIntel Core i7-1260P16 GB di RAM, un SSD da 512 GB e Windows 11 Professional. Attualmente, il prezzo richiesto dal produttore per il dispositivo è di 639 dollari, un prezzo già inferiore rispetto al suo MRSP di 979 dollari. La versione più economica del Mini IT12 parte da circa 591 dollari. In questo caso, dovrete accontentarvi di unIntel Core i5-1240P- che non è affatto un cattivo SoC. Rispetto al nostro dispositivo di prova, non ci sono differenze in termini di SSD.

Un chiaro concorrente del Geekom Mini IT12 è la serie Intel NUC, in particolare i modelli Wall Street Canyon e Arena Canyon. Visivamente, il Geekom Mini IT12 è molto simile ai modelli NUC di Intel. Con un ingombro di 11,7 x 11,2 centimetri, hanno persino dimensioni identiche. Tuttavia, il Geekom Mini IT12 si differenzia per l'altezza, in quanto ha lo spazio per ospitare un'unità supplementare da 2,5 pollici. Wall Street Canyon e Arena Canyon hanno anche una selezione di modelli alti, costruiti un po' più grandi in altezza. Con un'altezza di 4,5 centimetri, il Geekom Mini IT12 è ancora un dispositivo relativamente piatto. La differenza maggiore rispetto ai suoi concorrenti Intel è il colore: il Geekom Mini IT12 ha un case turchese, mentre Intel è saldamente legato al suo design nero. Le superfici del Mini IT12 hanno una sensazione di alta qualità. Ci piace soprattutto il coperchio del case, che sembra di qualità notevolmente superiore rispetto alle controparti Intel. Purtroppo, la maggior parte della custodia è realizzata in plastica, ma visivamente non ha alcun difetto. Un case in metallo avrebbe comunque conferito al dispositivo una sensazione leggermente migliore, come nel caso dei dispositivi Morefine M600. Va detto che nessuna di queste lamentele è un problema grave: il dispositivo non manca di stabilità che giustifichi l'uso di una custodia in alluminio. La stabilità è garantita dai rinforzi metallici che si trovano sotto lo strato esterno in plastica, come nei dispositivi Intel NUC.

Una nota a margine: come molti altri mini PC, il Geekom Mini IT12 può essere collegato a un monitor utilizzando il supporto VESA in dotazione.

Connettività

In termini di opzioni di connettività, il Geekom Mini IT12 è molto apprezzato. Dispone di quattro porte USB Tipo-A, che purtroppo offrono solo la velocità USB 2.0. Inoltre, dispone di due moderne connessioni USB-4 con supporto Thunderbolt. Geekom non scende a compromessi e ha dotato il Mini IT12 di un moderno modulo Wi-Fi-6E-AX211. Lo stesso modello può essere visto nel Intel NUC 12 Pro Kitcosì come nel kit Kit Intel NUC 13 Prole prestazioni misurate durante l'invio e la ricezione dei dati sono state da buone a molto buone in entrambe le bande a 5 GHz e 6 GHz. Nella confezione sono inclusi anche un alimentatore da 90 watt e una piastra per il montaggio VESA. Abbiamo ricevuto anche un cavo HDMI e un breve manuale di istruzioni.

Manutenzione

Il fondo del Geekom Mini IT12 può essere aperto facilmente. La piastra è tenuta ferma da quattro viti, che aiutano anche a dissipare il calore proveniente dall'SSD. Sotto, è possibile accedere facilmente agli slot per la RAM e l'SSD. È inoltre possibile sostituire il modulo WLAN e installare un'unità da 2,5 pollici. La pulizia della ventola non è delle più semplici, in quanto richiede un ulteriore smontaggio del dispositivo. La piastra superiore non è avvitata: basta uno strattone per rimuoverla senza problemi.

Prestazioni: potente Core i7 con core P ed E

Con l'utilizzo di unIntel Core i7-1260pci aspettiamo che il Geekom Mini fornisca prestazioni impeccabili nell'uso quotidiano. Grazie alla combinazione di core P ed E, il SoC dovrebbe essere in grado di gestire anche attività più complesse e, quindi, di essere all'altezza delIntel NUC 12 Pro Kite quindi di essere facilmente all'altezza degli standard dell'Intel NUC 12 Pro Kit, un dispositivo dotato dello stesso SoC.

Condizioni di test

Abbiamo eseguito tutti i test sulle prestazioni utilizzando il profilo energetico Balanced. Non abbiamo modificato le prestazioni del SoC e lo abbiamo lasciato nello stato in cui ci è stato consegnato secondo le impostazioni del BIOS.

Processore

Il Geekom Mini IT12 è equipaggiato con un moderno Intel Core i7-1260P. Il SoC ha accesso a dodici core nativi e può elaborare 16 thread in totale. Ciò rende il piccolo processore una solida base per compiti complessi. Il consumo energetico a breve termine (PL2) è di 64 watt, mentre a carico continuo (PL1) consuma 28 watt. Rispetto a entrambi i suoi concorrenti Intel NUC, il valore PL1 molto più basso del nostro dispositivo di prova si è rivelato il motivo delle prestazioni multi-thread molto inferiori. Geekom Mini IT12 vs. Cinebench R15 Multi Loop

Durante il ciclo continuo di Cinebench R15 abbiamo potuto osservare per la prima volta l'efficienza del sistema di raffreddamento installato in combinazione con l'obiettivo di potenza del SoC: Il SoC si è comportato al meglio durante il primo ciclo, dove è stato possibile utilizzare il suo Turbo massimo. Già durante la seconda prova abbiamo misurato risultati molto più bassi: per lunghi tratti, l'Intel Core i7-1260P è stato in grado di utilizzare il massimo Turbo Intel Core i7-1260Pha avuto accesso solo a 28 watt. Prestazioni del sistema

L'impostazione molto conservativa di PL2 (Power Limit 2) ha fatto sì che il nostro campione di prova si sia comportato in modo relativamente scarso nei benchmark sintetici delle prestazioni del sistema. Tuttavia, il divario era molto più evidente in PCMark 10 che in Crossmark o nei benchmark della RAM. IlIntel Core i7-1260Pfunziona bene con gli altri componenti del Geekom Mini IT12. Durante la riproduzione del nostro video di prova in 4K, non abbiamo osservato alcun aumento delle latenze. L'iGPU è stata utilizzata per circa il 15% della sua capacità e anche utilizzando Prime95 non è stato possibile ottenere latenze elevate.

Dispositivi di archiviazione

Il Mini IT12 è dotato di un'unità SSD NVMe da 512 GB prodotta da Kingston. Il modello installato utilizza la porta NVMe, quindi offre buone velocità di trasferimento. Tuttavia, i risultati documentati non possono competere con quelli dei dispositivi di confronto. I primi tre dispositivi di confronto mostrano cosa si può ottenere con un'unità SSD molto veloce. Tuttavia, le prestazioni dell'SSD nel Geekom Mini IT12 sono chiaramente superiori a quelle delle SSD SATA tradizionali. Nell'uso quotidiano, l'SSD è sufficientemente veloce e nel nostro test non si sono registrate latenze degne di nota. Sotto carico permanente, l'unità SSD non è stata in grado di accedere a tutte le sue prestazioni. In questo caso manca chiaramente un elemento di raffreddamento che aiuti a evitare questo declino nelle prestazioni con carico continuo.

È possibile installare fino a tre unità SSD nel Geekom Mini IT12. Accanto all'unità SSD NVMe, è possibile installare un'altra unità SSD M.2 2242, che però è limitata alla velocità SATA. Inoltre, è possibile installare un dispositivo di archiviazione da 2,5 pollici, ma in questo caso è necessario rispettare un'altezza massima di 7 millimetri.

Grazie al mini PC Intel Core i7-1260Pè dotato di una grafica integrataIntel Iris Xe Graphics G7in termini di prestazioni, questo modello dovrebbe essere utilizzato solo per il rendering 2D. Le prestazioni 3D della iGPU sono semplicemente troppo deboli e sono chiaramente inferiori alla Radeon 680M di AMD. In un confronto diretto delle prestazioni, il Geekom Mini IT12 si è classificato di nuovo dietro l'Intel NUC 12 Pro Kit Intel NUC 12 Pro Kit. La ragione di ciò è probabilmente il suo minore consumo energetico permanente.

È possibile collegare schede grafiche esterne ai PC tramite Thunderbolt, cosa che abbiamo sempre preso in considerazione durante i nostri test in passato. Non abbiamo fatto eccezione per il Geekom Mini IT12, che dispone addirittura di due di queste moderne porte. Abbiamo ulteriormente documentato le prestazioni del dispositivo utilizzando il nostro Razer Core X e la scheda Nvidia RTX 30 Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Tiche abbiamo elencato in una tabella di confronto separata. In questa combinazione, le prestazioni 3D del Geekom Mini IT12 sono aumentate notevolmente. Va notato, tuttavia, che la scheda grafica esterna comunica solo su una larghezza di banda limitata (PCIe 3.0 x4).

Siamo riusciti a ottenere frame rate giocabili solo con i giochi più vecchi e spesso solo a risoluzioni inferiori e con dettagli ridotti. Se cercate un dispositivo adatto al gioco, vi consigliamo di cercare un modello con una scheda grafica dedicata. In questo caso, il MinisforumHX99Ge ilNUCXi7sono ottime alternative. Come accennato in precedenza, le prestazioni 3D del PC possono essere aumentate in modo massiccio tramite Thunderbolt e l'utilizzo di un dock eGPU. Il Geekom Mini IT12 si comporta in modo molto discreto in termini di emissioni acustiche. Anche in modalità idle, abbiamo notato livelli di rumore appena superiori al valore di base, il che significa che il dispositivo è quasi silenzioso. Anche sotto carico, il nostro strumento di misura ha evidenziato un tasso molto basso, pari a soli 32,5 dB(A). In confronto, solo il Minisforum può tenere il passo del NAD9. Il suo concorrente Intel ha misurato un volume notevolmente superiore. In compenso, i due SoC Intel NUC avevano fino a 40 watt disponibili sotto carico permanente.

Temperatura

Il case del Geekom Mini IT12 si è riscaldato solo leggermente in modalità idle. Anche sotto carico le temperature del case non si fanno sentire. L'aria calda esce direttamente dal case attraverso una piccola ventola sul retro

Durante il test di carico Prime95, ilIntel Core i7-1260P ha raggiunto una temperatura massima di 85 °C, anche se durante il test FurMark sono stati raggiunti i 100 °C. In questo caso, la parte dell'iGPU si è surriscaldata notevolmente rispetto al resto del SoC sotto carico. Nel test di stress, tuttavia, le temperature elevate sono state raggiunte subito dopo l'avvio. Non appena il PL1 ha limitato il consumo del dispositivo a soli 28 watt, anche le temperature della parte iGPU sono scese a valori migliori.

Consumo di energia

Grazie agli obiettivi di risparmio energetico del SoC, il Geekom Mini IT12 è stato il mini PC più parsimonioso del nostro confronto, dopo il Minisforum MC560. In modalità idle, abbiamo misurato valori molto bassi, compresi tra 5 e 10,7 watt. In condizioni di carico medio, il nostro campione di prova è risultato ancora relativamente frugale con poco più di 50 watt, anche se abbiamo misurato solo 82 watt nei picchi. Il Geekom Mini IT12 è un mini PC piccolo e potente, che non emette rumori fastidiosi o rumorosi di ventole, nemmeno sotto carico. Insieme all'Intel Core i7-1260P, questo dispositivo è un SoC Intel moderno, ma non il più recente. La differenza di prestazioni rispetto all'Intel Core i7-1360P si è mantenuta entro i limiti durante il nostro test, il che significa che si può accettare questo deficit di prestazioni. Dopo tutto, l'Intel Core i7-1260P è un SoC con dodici core nativi. Il Geekom Mini IT12 fa un'ottima impressione grazie alle sue ampie opzioni di connettività, tra cui due porte Thunderbolt che possono ampliare notevolmente la gamma di utilizzo del dispositivo. Nel nostro test abbiamo notato anche buone prestazioni WLAN e un lettore di schede con supporto UHS-II.

Il Geekom Mini IT12 è una bestia compatta che può essere utilizzata per una moltitudine di compiti e ha opzioni di connettività sorprendenti!

Il Geekom Mini IT12 ha fornito prestazioni decenti durante il nostro test, anche se il SoC era un po' limitato quando si trattava di consumo energetico - probabilmente un problema del produttore. Nonostante ciò, il dispositivo ha guadagnato qualche punto in più grazie agli eccellenti dati sulle emissioni. Non si può sbagliare con la versione con 16 GB di RAM e un'unità SSD da 512 GB: anche in questo caso, le attività ad alta intensità non sono un problema per il PC.

Semmai, il case in plastica del dispositivo è un po' deludente. Un case in alluminio avrebbe dato una sensazione di maggiore qualità, in parte già utilizzata da Morefine e Minisforum. Inoltre, non ci sono altre opzioni di colore. Dal punto di vista estetico, il design ci piace e il dispositivo è ben costruito e non presenta alcun difetto.
