Un bug dopo l'altro? Dopo che l'entry-level XPS 15 (FHD/i5/hybrid) non ha soddisfatto le nostre attese, siamo stati più cauti con il più costoso e meglio equipaggiato XPS 15 con pannello UHD, NVMe-SSD e Core i7. Chi vuole spendere oltre 2,000 Euro (~$2195) per avere CPU throttling, autonomia breve e anche flickering PWM? Ma possiamo verificare questi aspetti dopo la recensione. CPU e GTX 960M possono sfruttare a pieno le prestazioni e non c'è PWM flickering, nemmeno con luminosità minima. L'autonomia tuttavia delide; ancora troppo breve rispetto al modello 54-Wh FHD anche dopo il BIOS update 1.1.14 (NVMe SleepBug).

Il 6700HQ mantiene la posizione e supera anche l'Aspire Nitro Black Edition nel Cinebench tests. L'i7 usa anche il Boost (3.1 GHz) con la batteria. L'ultimo BIOS è importante; l'XPS 15 era fermo a 2.6 GHz ex-works (BIOS Rev. 1.1.05) ed aveva problemi di throttling nel passaggio alla rete elettrica.

L'assenza di un drive meccanico evita i rumori che impattavano sul microfono nell'entry-level XPS 15. Un problema è la superficie soft-touch degli appoggiapolsi.

Il pannello Sharp UHD è uno dei migliori del suo genere, supportato dalla copertura dell'89% AdobeRGB e ottimi risultati dopo la calibrazione. La tendenza l bli dai lati è un problema minimo; e non sconsigliamo per questo l'acquisto.

Eccellente qualità di costruzione e buona manutenzione con dimensioni compatte. Il sistema di raffreddamento funziona bene e le ventole non deludono dopo l'update del BIOS. L'ottimo suono delle casse e la Thunderbolt 3 completano il pacchetto.

Nel complesso - se ignoriamo i bugs iniziali – l'XPS 15 UHD è un eccellente strumento con pecche limitate. Se volete la perfezione sarete delusi dalla webcam, e l'autonomia peggiora le cose..

Il nuovo XPS 15 BIOS (versione 1.1.15) oltre alla nuova WLAN e IPG driver ora è disponibile per il download Dell.com/support.
