Intel's Arc Battlemage B580 and B570 GPUs made quite a splash when they launched recently, with our review of the B580 finding solid performance for a much more reasonable price than either AMD or Nvidia had provided so far. The reception made the prospective launch of the higher-end Battlemage B770 GPU even more exciting for gamers looking to get into high-end PC gaming at a more affordable price.
Now, though, it looks as though Intel's Arc B770 GPU may have been cancelled entirely, according to new reports by frequent hardware leaker, @jaykihn0 on X. When asked about Battlemage G31, the leaker responded that it has been “dead” since Q3 2024, indicating that the high-end Intel GPU was scrapped in late 2024, specifically as a consumer GPU, at least. This was seemingly the impression when we last reported on B770, with sources claiming that the high-end Battlemage GPU was “doomed” long before it was ever going to launch.
The Arc B770 was seemingly going to have 16 GB of VRAM paired with as many as 32 Intel Xe2 GPU cores. If these leaks prove true, it would essentially mean Intel is skipping the high-end GPU market altogether in 2025, although leaks have suggested that there may be a 24 GB Intel Battlemage card designed for creative professionals in the works.
Previous leaks indicated that the Intel Arc B770 would have been able to compete with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, which would have put it squarely in competition with the more recent Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti at the high end.
