Sicuramente a peso e dimensioni contenute come quelle di questo Zenbook, al display OLED 2K con touchscreen, all'autonomia che ci porta a lavorare per tutta la giornata senza bisogno di alimentatore e probabilmente anche ad una serie di ottimizzazioni hardware e software che non sono certo da sottovalutare. The most notable downside that I see with the Ryzen 7 6800U is that its media consumption capabilities are still not as good as they should be. Intel’s competing solutions even from as far back as 10th Gen Ice Lake have better capabilities with real-world media types in my own testing. And even in isolation, the inability to play 8K60 content from YouTube is not really a great showing for a 2022 market where 8K60 video output genuinely is not unreasonable. Still, there’s plenty to like from the Ryzen 7 6800U; excellent power efficiency delivers excellent battery life, and that efficiency also allows the powerful chip to be squeezed inside alluring, ultraportable laptops such as this sub-15mm, 1kg ASUS ZenBook S 13 OLED. The ASUS laptop is glorious – they’ve done a really good job at deploying high-end hardware that is fitting of the highly-competent Ryzen processor. Ample Type-C connectivity, impending USB4 support, a 2.8K OLED touch display – this laptop ticks many boxes.

The most notable downside that I see with the Ryzen 7 6800U is that its media consumption capabilities are still not as good as they should be. Intel’s competing solutions even from as far back as 10th Gen Ice Lake have better capabilities with real-world media types in my own testing. And even in isolation, the inability to play 8K60 content from YouTube is not really a great showing for a 2022 market where 8K60 video output genuinely is not unreasonable. Still, there’s plenty to like from the Ryzen 7 6800U; excellent power efficiency delivers excellent battery life, and that efficiency also allows the powerful chip to be squeezed inside alluring, ultraportable laptops such as this sub-15mm, 1kg ASUS ZenBook S 13 OLED. The ASUS laptop is glorious – they’ve done a really good job at deploying high-end hardware that is fitting of the highly-competent Ryzen processor. Ample Type-C connectivity, impending USB4 support, a 2.8K OLED touch display – this laptop ticks many boxes.

However, we still have not reviewed the laptop, so there’s no easy recommendation as yet for that one. The generation-old M1 MacBook Air is still up for grabs but we would suggest waiting for the M2 MacBook Air since it comes with a bunch of upgrades over the outgoing model.

I’m not entirely happy with Asus pushing their OLED panels so aggressively, though, and no longer offering any IPS options. This OLED screen sure looks awesome, but I’m mostly using my laptop outside when traveling, so I preffer an anti-glare matte finishing, as well as the hassle-free experience of a proper IPS panel. The other potential deal-breaker for me is the USB-C only IO, as I preffer having at least access to an USB-A port without requiring an adapter. The previous ZenBook 13 offers a USB-A port and a full-size HDMI, but this 2022 model does not. Still, if these aren’t bothering you and you are in the market for a versatile 13-inch ultraportable, then the Asus ZenBook S 13 UM5302 could be the one for you.

The Asus Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED is an excellent ultraportable, a better 2-in-1, and an impressive OLED laptop. The main problem with it? It's cursed by its lofty price, which pits it against other, equally impressive competitors. On its own, the Zenbook Flip OLED would hoover up awards based on its build quality and feature set alone, but when stacked against similar models, this slim little laptop doesn't shine quite so brightly. If you want a fantastic 2-in-1, the Asus Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED would be a fine choice, with a lightweight but durable design, a long-lasting and fast-charging battery, and a display that not only looks appealing, but gives you a rivaling tablet experience, too. If you want better performance, though, there's the Acer Spin 5 (2022), which generally outperforms it, and the HP Spectre x360 13.5 (2022), which continues its reign as our Editors' Choice pick, thanks to speedy performance and even longer battery life.

The Zenbook S 13 Flip has some strong competition as a convertible 2-in-1, particularly when matched up against the slightly more expensive HP Spectre x360 13.5 and less expensive HP Envy x360 13. But it hangs tight, providing excellent performance and strong battery life to go with its thin and light chassis. I’d go with one of HP’s offerings in this product category, especially with how affordable the HP Envy x360 13 is right now. I wouldn’t blame you for opting for the ZenBook S 13 Flip either, though, especially given how light the chassis is when using it in its different modes.

At the same time, you have to accept the USB-C-only IO without full-size ports, the lack of any non-OLED screen options, and a higher price compared to the clamshell ZenBook S 13 model.

I haven't been this impressed with a Windows ultrabook in a long time. A thin and light, compact laptop that checks most boxes is a rarity, but that might be a thing of the past with the new Asus Zenbook S 14 OLED. The new design is catchy, you get enough performance for work as well as light gaming, and the battery life is actually ultra for an ultrabook. Pricing isn't too bad either, seeing how other similarly specced ultrabooks from Dell, HP, Samsung, or Microsoft cost about the same.
