One of the first things you notice about the Lenovo Ideapad Y650 is its screen lid. The cover is made of black embossed rubber, smooth and very sturdy. Inside it's all white gloss on the keyboard, palmrest and touchpad, while the 16in widescreen display (1366x768 resolution) is adorned by a black bezel. The Lenovo Ideapad Y650 is not for budget-conscious customers. But with its better-than-average onboard sound, very good all around performance, and an equally noteworthy feature set, we think it does enough to justify its high price tag.

In a media-saturated online world, it's no surprise that whole categories of laptops now seem made to appeal to the home streaming-video connoisseur. Lenovo's IdeaPad Y series, and the Y650 in particular, look tailor-made for those that want to watch TV and media on a big, bright screen with better-than-average audio, and a decor-friendly design to match. Online media consumers who want a portable laptop with high style and plenty of screen real estate should give the Y650 a look.

ThinkPad fans should be happy to see that Lenovo is making a run at the consumer notebook market. The Lenovo Y650 is a strong contender amongst HP, Dell and Sony notebooks. It has a display that rivals Sony's high-end displays, Dolby audio with JBL hardware that can compete with HP's Altec Lansing setup and good performance for most productivity, multimedia and gaming applications. The notebook has a thin, sleek design and it has a good number of ports including an HDMI out port. The price is competitive at $1,149 - $1,249 and should be on the short list for those who are looking for a mid-sized notebook that can handle multimedia and moderate gaming. The battery life means this isn't a notebook for frequent travelers and those who are away from power for long periods of time.

Overall the IdeaPad is a well designed laptop that can act as both a desktop replacement and a capable entertainment notebook. There are some small minor faults, like a shaky display and only two USB slots, but generally it’s quite solid. Buyers will have to like the design enough to spend the extra cash for the Y650 over something from Gateway or HP (like the HDX16) but for that money they will get a slick and attractive computer. It would be great to see options for Blu-ray, a higher resolution display, and maybe even increased graphics power, but most consumers will be quite happy with the available builds.

The Lenovo Y650 is hard to recommend wholeheartedly. While the Y650 performs most day-to-day tasks extremely well and handles virtually any video you can throw at it, the low-display resolution makes this system hard to take seriously as a good media laptop. In the midst of a new crop of $1000-to-$1300, thin-body, large-screen laptops, including the Samsung R610, the Y650 offers some great general performance, and you won't need to schedule regular appointments with a chiropractor if you're going to be carrying it with you often. If you are hunting for a stylish, thin laptop with a powerful processor, and you can look past the low resolution, you could do a lot worse. And you'll be hard-pressed to find a better-sounding laptop in this class.

Lenovo’s consumer-oriented IdeaPad line grows more impressive with each new model. The IdeaPad Y650 shares a little DNA with the more buttoned-down ThinkPad line but turns up the volume with its style. Combine that with a gorgeous 16-inch screen, good productivity and multimedia performance, and some cool features, and the Y650’s $1,399 price looks very enticing. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 delivers a 16-inch screen and sleek design for a reasonable price.

Of all the 16-inch media centers—laptops with 16-inch widescreens—the Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 ($1,299 direct) is easily the least burdensome on your back. It's an alternative for those who don't want to spend the money or make the switch to an Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (Dual Graphics) but salivate over its lightness. The Y650 is designed with mobility in mind when others (ahem, other Windows laptops) with similar screens are at least a pound heavier. Yet it can also fill the void left by an old desktop. Part for part, though, the Y650 is a bit overpriced; there are better values out there. Then again, you can always wait around until there's a good Lenovo sale. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 is the lightest 16-inch media center around, but its somewhat high price tag isn't justified by its parts.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 has a durable chassis, good overall performance, great sounding speakers, and a nice design with a great multi-touch touchpad. The keyboard was a little disappointing and having only two USB ports might be a problem for some people, but overall the design is quite impressive. While we are glad to see the graphics performance of the Y650 exceeds the performance of the old Y530, the new NVIDIA GeForce G 105M dedicated graphics card just didn't perform as well in games compared to other 16-inch notebooks we've tested. That said, the Y650 is thinner and lighter than any other 16-inch notebook we've seen ... and the discrete graphics card in this machine is perfectly capable of handling HD video decoding and digital audio out over HDMI for watching movies on your HDTV. If you're looking for an attractive entertainment notebook for your family the Y650 makes a great choice, but if you need a high-end gaming notebook this isn't it.

With a sleek design, face detection, fast productivity performance, and booming Dolby speakers, the $1,399 Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 raises the bar for what you can expect in a machine for this size and price. Netbooks have been hogging the spotlight lately, making the world marvel at how capable a computing companion you can get for a notch under $500. Lenovo would like equal time to point out just how capable a real computer you can get for a notch over $500. The Y450 is pretty robust overall, though -- a likable laptop that's an undeniable deal at $599. There are other "real" notebooks (as opposed to netbooks) that cost even less, but many are bulky and clunky compared to the elegant IdeaPad. Few will make you feel as good about carrying them.

Formerly known for the iconic, if boxy, ThinkPads (which the company still does well: see our review of the T400s), Lenovo has also begun branching into more stylish consumer products, loosening up its slightly uptight design aesthetics along the way. The recent IdeaPad line reflects the change most starkly: we looke at the 16-inch IdeaPad Y650 a while ago, and were impressed by the thin, sturdy feel and bolder touches, including texture-patterned lids and glossy materials used in the interior. Reasonably priced, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y450 is a style-savvy, media-friendly laptop that unfortunately lacks gaming graphics.

As countless shoppers flock to stores to buy low-cost netbooks, they forget that great deals for these tough economic times are also coming in the form of bigger, more-capable, and still-very-portable mainstream laptops. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y450 (starting at $599) is not only inexpensive, it also comes with a big screen, a desktop-like typing experience, and a bevy of multimedia features. It's a great laptop for kicking off a new school year or transitioning from that old desktop. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y450 is a tremendous bargain for students and home users on a shoestring budget.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y450 has a lot to offer students or a family looking for a good laptop for general use. The overall price/performance ratio makes the Y450 a compelling notebook if you're looking for something with a 14-inch screen. The nice design, great sounding speakers and multi-touch touchpad should likewise give you a few reasons to consider this laptop. That said, the Y450 has some strong competition from notebooks like the new Dell Studio 14z and the popular HP Pavilion dv4t. If you're looking for an attractive notebook for school the Y450 makes a great choice, but if you need a high-end gaming notebook or the lightest possible weight, this isn't it.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Y450 isn't an extremely compact system, but comapred to many other laptops in its price range, it is very compact and lightweight. Performance is good although it does suffer in the graphics by relying on the integrated video. It does come with some very good battery life for its size. It's really hard to find systems with similar features and performance but some may want to look at the version with the NVIDIA graphics if they need 3D support.

This thin, light notebook offers good performance and plenty of style for its price. None of the value-priced systems we’ve reviewed provide the design, features, portability, and strong battery life of the Lenovo Ideapad Y450. At $619, it’s a great notebook for students, families, or anyone on a budget who needs a highly portable computer with plenty of features. Even the cheapest configurations are powerful enough for the most common computing tasks: using Office software, editing photos, watching movies, and surfing the Web. But if you plan on editing video or playing high-speed games, you’ll want to consider a more powerful (and expensive) configuration.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Y550 isn't really targeted towards the budget market, but it is possible to get a model equipped for under $650 that has some surprising offerings that make it more future proof than other budget laptops. While you will need to get a memory upgrade at least to make it truly functional, the system has dedicated graphics and a wide range of ports that you just can't find in other laptops in this price class. It keeps Lenovo's class leading keyboard designs that make it a joy to use. So, if you want to do a little gaming on the side, this is clearly the budget system for you.

The Sony VAIO NW is a classy-looking midrange laptop with a solid selection of features, and even some advanced options available if you want to configure your own, which we'd highly recommend. At its base, the machine doesn't really standout, but pop in a Blu-Ray drive for less than $100 and you've got a much more capable addition to your home theater setup. Throw in a discrete graphics card from ATI and then you'll really be flying along, but you'll also increase the base price to almost $1000, which is still competitive, but not cheap. Overall, we liked the design and options we found on the Sony Vaio NW, though many of the extras seem to be conceits for Sony fans, like the extra Memory Stick slot or the choice of i.Link (Sony's brand name for FireWire) over eSata for an expansion port.

Those looking for a portable multimedia notebook with strong enough graphics performance to play demanding games will find a lot to like in the IdeaPad Y460. However, at $1,049, it’s a bit expensive for a multimedia system that doesn’t have Blu-ray or a high-res screen. Some may prefer the heavier 15-inch Samsung R580, which comes standard with a Blu-ray reader and costs more than $200 less. And if gaming is your main goal, you might want to go for the 15-inch Acer Aspire 5740G ($749). But if you care about mobility and don’t want to sacrifice power, the Y460 is a high-quality notebook.

Lenovo's IdeaPad Y550p may not be the latest model from the company but it still provides a solid level of performance at a very reasonable $100 price tag. Performance is strong thanks to the quad Core i7 processor and 4GB of memory and the graphics are more than enough for gaming at the moderate resolutions. There are just a number of quirks with the keyboard, trackpad and software that deter from an otherwise solid 15-inch laptop.

Though 3D is a big buzzword in the television world, it's been slower to take off in desktop and laptop TVs. That's in some ways surprising, as a tested, functional 3D infrastructure has existed for PCs for a couple of years now, in the form of Nvidia's 3D Vision technology. One of only a handful of 3D laptops, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560d skips active shutter glasses for an inferior technology, but keeps the A-list price.

The problem we have with the Y560D is that it's a notebook with some unchangeable and unwisely chosen components inside a well-built shell. Thus, while we can't recommend this laptop, we would feel comfortable recommending other Lenovo Y560 products in general. We loved the Y560D's speakers, the keyboard is well-built and responsive and the trackpad was both sensitive and usefully textured without going overboard in either category.

With the IdeaPad Y560D, Lenovo has officially joined the 3D revolution. For $1,399, you get a powerful Intel Core i7 processor, gaming-class graphics, and a bright 15.6-inch screen that can display movies, photos, and games in 3D. With the Y560D you can watch movies, play games, and view photos in 3D. While the 3D wasn’t overly impressive, the price-to-performance ratio was. This is a solid choice for demanding users on a $1,500 budget.

The Y560d is a typical consumer-grade multimedia notebook with a high-performance core. Highlights of the machine include excellent overall performance (especially for gaming), a good keyboard and touchpad, a thin-and-light design, and fantastic speakers. The downsides of this notebook are significant. At the top of the list is the so-so build quality; the Y560d's flexible plastic construction does not inspire confidence. Furthermore, glossy plastic covers all visible surfaces and is impossible to keep clean. Another design issue is the gaudy-looking tattoo on the back of the lid what is that all about? The sub-three hour battery life may be a turnoff for some. Last but not least, the low resolution (1366x768) screen hurts usability and productivity.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y560D is a competitively priced 3D laptop, but the polarized technology behind the 3D effects aren't as convincing as the active shutter 3D technology seen in other systems.

On its own, the IdeaPad Y560d is a very capable entertainment system. While its screen could be better, it has the chops to play the latest games and belt out tunes through its excellent speakers. As a 3D notebook, the Y560d is considerably less expensive than 15-inch laptops that use Nvidia's superior 3D Vision technology. For example, the ASUS G51J 3D costs approximately $1,600, though it offers a more immersive 3D experience and better gaming cred. Given that the Y560d can be had for as low as $1,100, the IdeaPad is really a good entertainment machine with 3D as a bonus.

Like an assassin in a business suit, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p has a sleek, almost professional look that hides powerful gaming hardware within. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p suffers from being a very good gaming laptop in a crowded category where it is not the very best. Despite this, it’s a well-built gaming rig, and it will play even demanding high-end games without so much as a stutter.

All things considered, Lenovo made an excellent gaming computer at an affordable price. For well below 1000 €, you get one of the most powerful Haswell processors, a large HDD and GT750M, with the option of adding another graphic card, which can extend the lifetime of your computers.

Overall, the $1,599 top-end model of the Y510p is a good option for gamers, as long as you can look past the lack of real solid-state storage and the non-touch screen's narrow vertical viewing angles. But if you really want a good value, as we said, we'd look instead to model 59370007, especially if Lenovo renews its $1,199 eCoupon offer.

Lenovo updates its already excellent Y Series gaming laptop with a "Haswell" CPU and dual GTX 750M graphics, resulting in even better performance. But the price could be cut by halving the RAM, and we'd like to see a real solid-state drive in this price range.

Supporta Eyevision (fino a 6 monitors)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730:

Grazie all'Hyperthreading, possono essere processati 4 threads contemporaneamente.
