ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402) review

Did they just do it? Did ASUS make the best ultrabook? Well, it depends, but they really got close to doing so. The Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402) comes with fantastic build quality. This is proven by the MIL-STD-810H certification. In addition, the laptop features a very sleek design, and we really like the cylindrical element around the hinges. It is combined with the ErgoLift mechanism, which lifts the backside of the base, and a keyboard/touchpad combo, which is one of the more comfortable ones out there. Not to mention the inclusion of a fingerprint reader, and a NumberPad, located on the touchpad. ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UM3402)’s display has a high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, exceptional pixel response times, and shows true blacks, thanks to the nature of the OLED panel. Furthermore, it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and features a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes using the laptop a really smooth experience. There is also HDR support. See, ASUS has promised good battery life, and they were kind of right.

Asus Zenbook 14 (2023) Review: A Decent Ultrabook, But…

So that was all for my full review of the new Asus Zenbook 14 (2023). For the most part, I’d say this laptop nails that premium Ultrabook experience at. And for students or business folks who don’t need that much horsepower and just want a lightweight laptop that runs cool and quiet and has a good battery backup, I could certainly see this being a viable option. That being said, I can’t help but think there are some major missed opportunities here—mostly thanks to that new but old AMD processor. The true Ryzen 7000 chips that I recommended earlier could’ve worked wonders here without any significant impact on battery life or the cooling system. But unfortunately, it is what it is. Asus Zenbook 14 (2023) does a lot of things right for a premium thin-and-light laptop. Having said that, Asus could've hit the nail on the head here by going with a more capable processor under AMD's Ryzen 7000 series instead. It's still a decent budget Ultrabook but the Zenbook 14 (2023) definitely has some wasted potential.

Still, it doesn’t come with transforming capabilities, and the powerful Intel Raptor Lake CPUs aren’t available as well. Aside from that, the laptop is a great bang for your bug and we’ll explain why. We spot bends and flexes here and there on the chassis but overall the rigidity is good. The I/O is wide enough for a thin device – three USB ports, an HDMI 2.1, and an SD Card reader. The upgrade options are the main cons of this laptop. The memory is soldered and the maximum amount of RAM is 16GB of LPDDR4X -4266MHz is dual-channel. There is just one M.2 Gen 3 slot. Of course, you can install a Gen 4 NVMe but its speed will be limited to the older standard. The ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3402) is a compact and light laptop with a metal build, snappy hardware under the bonnet, comfortable input devices, a color-accurate PWM-free 1600p display, and a long-lasting battery.

Asus Zenbook 14 OLED review: outstanding screen, outrageous value

If you’re looking to spend less than $1,000 on a laptop and aren’t looking for a bargain-basement machine, then I’m not sure you’ll find a better laptop than the Zenbook 14 OLED. It’s fast enough for most users, has excellent battery life, is well-built with a great keyboard and touchpad, and its OLED display is excellent. In fact, you can spend hundreds more on a laptop and not get a better machine. The Zenbook 14 OLD is a true bargain, and it should be on everyone’s shortlist unless you need a lot more power.

Asus is, of course, trying to steal some thunder from Apple's MacBook Air, and has succeeded in that endeavor to a large extent. It has a terrific screen that is nigh unbeatable in this price segment. The port situation is far more generous than the MacBook Air, the light-up Numpad is a neat addition, and the keyboard is excellent, too. The AMD Ryzen 7 CPU inside offers reliable performance, and even though it isn't quite a direct match for the Apple M2, it can hold its own against every task that you can possibly accomplish on an Ultrabook. The battery life figures are great for a Windows machine, and Asus's software add-ons are also convenient. Overall, this is an excellent package for significantly less than $1,000 if the Windows ecosystem is where you want to thrive.

The display is beautiful, the laptop is powerful, and it has top-notch performance and surprisingly great battery life. It can even play many of the latest games at satisfying graphical fidelity, making it a well-rounded laptop. The design might be a bit bland for some, but I find it elegant. It's part of the charm of the Zenbook 14 OLED. Asus has a real winner on its hands with this 14-inch laptop. EN→ITThe Asus Zenbook was an absolute pleasure to put through its paces. Last year's Zenbook was already a great device, but this year's version improved on its predecessor's shortcomings, namely its processing speed and slower memory. Asus created one of the best sub-$1000 laptops you can buy. Starting at $799, there isn't much to dislike about the Zenbook 14 OLED. The display is beautiful, the laptop is powerful, and it has top-notch performance and surprisingly great battery life. It can even play many of the latest games at satisfying graphical fidelity, making it a well-rounded laptop. The design might be a bit bland for some, but I find it elegant. It's part of the charm of the Zenbook 14 OLED. Asus has a real winner on its hands with this 14-inch laptop. If you are looking for a premium laptop and aren't looking for an Apple device, or a gaming laptop, then the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (2024) should be your go-to option.

Con il marchio ROG (Republic of Gamers), ASUS produce laptop da gioco conosciuti dai giocatori per le loro potenti specifiche, schede grafiche dedicate, display ad alta frequenza di aggiornamento e sistemi di raffreddamento avanzati.
Oltre ai giochi, viene offerta un'ampia gamma di notebook per esigenze e budget diversi, dagli ultrabook ultrasottili e leggeri ai versatili convertibili 2 in 1 e alle opzioni economiche. Nel 2023, Asus deteneva una quota di mercato globale del 7% del mercato dei PC.

R5 7530U: APU mobile a sei core con core Zen 3 con clock da 2 a 4,5 GHz e adattatore grafico Vega con 7 CU con clock fino a 2 GHz.
AMD Hawk Point (Zen 4/4c, Ryzen 8040):
R7 8840HS: Un processore di fascia alta della famiglia Hawk Point, presentato nel quarto trimestre del 2023. L'8840HS non è in realtà un nuovo chip; è invece simile al Ryzen 7 7840U, ma con un TDP minimo superiore di 5W e un motore Ryzen AI con un clock più elevato. L'8840HS ha 8 core abilitati SMT (16 thread) che funzionano da 3,3 GHz a 5,1 GHz. Questi core dell'architettura Zen 4 sono abbinati all'adattatore grafico integrato Radeon 780M.
