OnePlus 13 è un telefono flagship solido, con punti di forza evidenti come la batteria, la ricarica rapida e la certificazione IP69. Ma nella giungla dei top di gamma, non basta essere buoni: bisogna avere un'identità forte. E questo, forse, è il vero tallone d'Achille di questo smartphone. E del nuovo corso di OnePlus più in generale: le differenze con Oppo e Realme ormai sono blande, la “boutique” OnePlus che inseguiva il sogno del «flagship killer», tanta qualità a poco prezzo, è un ricordo di un’epoca passata. OnePlus 13 arriva in Italia a 1.029 euro per la versione 12/256GB e 1.179 euro per quella 16/512GB. Prezzi importanti, che lo pongono in diretta competizione con diversi modelli premium.

Chi vuole spendere meno potrà guardare con interesse al modello OnePlus 13R, ma chi punta al top può trovare piena soddisfazione in questo telefono.

OnePlus 13 non è un enorme avanzamento tecnologico rispetto alla precedente generazione, quanto piuttosto un affinamento. L'anno scorso la strategia non era chiara, ora lo è decisamente di più. OnePlus vuole competere ad armi pari con gli altri premium del mercato, anche se con il rischio di perdere un po' il suo fattore unicità. Questo è uno smartphone veramente ottimo a cui si può contestare poco, ma che rischia di perdersi nella mischia. Scontato nei prossimi mesi però potrebbe diventare uno dei prodotti più interessanti. Come è già successo con OnePlus 12.

La recensione di OnePlus 13, il primo top di gamma del 2025?

OnePlus 13 ci aveva promesso un top di gamma, e non ci ha deluso durante i test di questa recensione. Lo smartphone ha un bel design, un ottimo display, prestazioni irreprensibili e (soprattutto) scatta fotografie davvero splendide. Nei ritratti e nella Master Mode si vede tutta l’esperienza di Hasselblad. L’autonomia ci sembra solo buona quando avrebbe potuto (e forse sarà) eccezionale; e OxygenOS 15, pur funzionando molto bene, non è la nostra interfaccia Android preferita. Ma ci sembra che OnePlus 13 faccia bene dove non eccelle: è uno smartphone al top, senza dubbio. Detto questo, il prezzo sopra i mille euro per la versione da 256GB di memoria non è certo basso, e per avere più spazio (512GB) si arriva a 1.179 euro.

Per 1029€ al lancio potremmo dire che il OnePlus 13 è un buon acquisto. Non parliamo di un prezzo folle e non sappiamo ancora se ci sarà qualche bundle intrigante. Probabilmente dopo un OnePlus 11 e OnePlus 12 snobbati dalla grande massa, l'azienda cinese è finalmente riuscita a suscitare interesse attorno al suo nuovo top di gamma. Paradossalmente però quest'anno rischia di essere il più complicato per l'azienda, trovandosi lì a metà fra il Realme GT 7 Pro e l'OPPO Find X8 Pro. Il vero rivale è chiaramente quest'ultimo, dal momento che risulta un telefono che punta tutto ad essere bilanciatissimo, ma l'OPPO ha qualcosa in più come la fotocamera 6X extra. Cosa farà quindi la fortuna di questo device? Lo street price.

Mettersi a fare i soliti discorsi sulla "OnePlus di una volta", quella che faceva telefoni ottimi e che costavano meno degli altri ecc ecc è inutile. OnePlus adesso è questa, un'azienda che tira fuori varie fasce di smartphone e che per i top, come OnePlus 13, ha prezzi da top. Il listino infatti parte da 1.029 euro nella versione 12/256GB e arriva a 1.179 euro per la 16/512GB che ho provato io. Sono davvero tanti, non ci sono dubbi, io li spenderei? A priori avrei detto di no, ma provandolo inizio a pensare che in realtà sia una soglia psicologica. Rimanendo in famiglia abbiamo il Realme GT7 Pro che è davvero simile e costa meno ma abbiamo qualcosa in meno in costruzione e materiali, dall'altra il Find X8 Pro di Oppo che costa più o meno uguale ed è in più un cameraphone ma anche lui non è così piacevole da usare nel quotidiano per ergonomia e bilanciamento del peso. Insomma, questo OnePlus 13 costa tanto, ma ha il suo perché.

Il nuovo nato, OnePlus 13, rappresenta perfettamente la mission del produttore, e questo ci piace molto, andando a enfatizzarne prestazioni, design e qualità costruttiva, messe in primissimo piano. Un software eccellente a corredo, dotato di tanta e utile AI, un comparto fotocamera completo e versatile, ottimo display e sistema di ricarica rapido e tecnologico oltre a un’eccezionale autonomia e qualità delle chiamate vocali completano un device che ha davvero pochi punti deboli. Potremmo dire che i 4 anni di major update sono inferiori ad alcuni competitor, che i sensori fotocamera complementari non hanno la stessa qualità di quello principale o che l’audio stereo non ci soddisfa a pieno, ma nel complesso sono piccoli punti a sfavore che non vanno a influire sul nostro giudizio altamente positivo.

Al netto delle solite promozioni sui marchi cinesi che mitigheranno l’acquisto con dispositivi gratuiti abbinati (nel momento in cui scriviamo si può scegliere anche di avere gratis un OnePlus Watch 2R), OnePlus 13 si offre a 1.029 euro per il taglio da 12/256 GB e a 1.179 euro per quello da 16/512 GB da noi provato. Sono prezzi alti, ma sono ormai quelli di un top di gamma, che però devono essere comunque giustificati dal dispositivo che si acquista con una cifra importante; e OnePlus 13 non ha punti deboli evidenti che possano evitargli la convocazione nella squadra dei flagship.

OnePlus 13, lo smartphone atteso dai più, colui che viene di anno in anno considerato il vero flagship killer anche per via del prezzo contenuto rispetto la concorrenza. Quest’anno il prezzo lievita leggermente rompendo la soglia dei 1000€, parliamo di 1029€ per il taglio 12/256GB e 1179€ per il taglio 16/512GB. Sicuramente sono prezzi più bassi rispetto i top di gamma della concorrenza più conosciuta, come può essere Samsung o Apple. Differenza che a parità di memoria arriva anche a 400€ e OnePlus 13 ha tutte le carte in regola per essere trattato come un vero e proprio top di gamma!

I could drone on about other bits and pieces on the OnePlus 13 for hours more but I feel that I would lose your interest as this has been quite long enough already (kudos for making it this far). However, I am not going to drag this out any more than is needed. Simply put although this is one of the 1st major brand launches of the year with the new Snapdragon Chipset onboard it is in my opinion one of the best phones currently available to the wider global market. I would be very happy to continue to use this phone daily and if I wasn’t so hooked on foldable phones I would certainly being doing so. While I fully expect the next phone series from Samsung to be up with the OnePlus 13 in terms of specs I also expect it to be way more expensive.

The OnePlus 13 display demonstrated an overall good performance, especially in readability and touch. The device’s luminance was well-suited in indoor and outdoor situations despite an unnatural tone rendering under sunlight (with the High Brightness Mode activated). The relatively strong reflections impacted outdoor performances, adding a color cast when viewing content. Reading comfort was enhanced thanks to the screen’s lack of flicker. Using faithful mode, color rendering was accurate overall, but colors visibly shifted when the screen was held at a 25° angle. The device’s weakest performance was in HDR and SDR video rendering in low-light conditions because of poor brightness, contrast, and color results. However, in indoor lighting conditions, the device rendered HDR videos with adequate luminance and contrast, providing a generally good experience. Building on the OnePlus 12, the 13 model has even more to offer in terms of features, software, build and design for a competitive price. The improvements made to the cameras and imaging software allow you to get excellent image quality in variety of conditions. The overall care and detail given to hardware offers more day-to-day reassurance. In particular, the IP68/69 ratings give me more confidence to use the phone outdoors in the rain or by a pool.

The OnePlus 13 is undoubtedly one of the best Android phones a power user can pick up right now. While its camera isn't best-in-class – the much pricier Xiaomi 14 Ultra bests it on that front – it's still very well-priced. OnePlus outclasses the other Snapdragon 8 Elite phones available in January 2025: the Redmagic 10 Pro lacks the IP-rated durability and camera performance; the IQOO 13 misses out on wireless charging and its cameras also fall short. We're also expecting the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Honor Magic 7 Pro to cost a fair bit more than OnePlus's flagship, suggesting it will still be a great shout once they drop. If you don't need the latest power and don't mind the curved screen, there's an argument to be made for opting for last year's OnePlus 12 instead – the phone has aged well – however, if you're happy with the asking price, the OnePlus 13 is a very good phone with excellent battery life and top-tier performance.

It would take a really good camera system to knock the Pixel 9 Pro off the top spot as my first choice camera phone, and the OnePlus 13 comes agonizingly close, with all three of its cameras offering great images – although a few white balance mistakes and a shorter telephoto just take it away from perfection. Photos are detailed, with great results from each of the three different cameras. The colors are accurate and nicely saturated. The white balance, on the whole, is accurate, although it can veer slightly warmer, however, consistency has been a minor issue with some quirks in white balance and processing as you switch between cameras.And when it comes to hardware, I wish OnePlus had chosen to go further than a 3x optical zoom camera, I am a big zoom fan, and this doesn’t quite do it for me – I would really hope for at least a 5x optical zoom.

Things are looking up for OnePlus 13, which is once again positioning itself as the hidden ultimate-value gem in the Android space, a phone with exceptional hardware, great software, but sadly, the lack of a more widespread brand recognition in the US and therefore trailing behind the Galaxies and iPhones. This definitely prevents the OnePlus 13 from ever beating the iPhones and Galaxies in the US, which is by now a popularity contest. And looking past the brand name, the OnePlus 13 has it all: modern design in a compact body, top-notch performance (especially in gaming), good battery life, superfast charging, and a lovely screen. However, there are some flies in the ointment. It feels like the battery life should be better, and the camera system isn't that good and leaves a lot to be desired in terms of image quality.

That same stylus means that Samsung’s top-end traditional flagship won’t work with any magnetic case, so you’ll have to make do with more traditional charging options. More importantly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is one flagship that can give OnePlus’s improved camera zoom a run for its money thanks to 100x Space Zoom from its dual-telephoto setup. Just remember that we expect the next Galaxy S25 Ultra to be right around the corner and offer upgraded specs similar to the OnePlus 13.

In the end, the OnePlus 13 is a solid phone. It’s really powerful, can go for ages on a full charge, refills quickly, has a brilliant display and versatile camera system. It’s all the things you’d want a OnePlus phone to be. Does it move the needle much beyond what the OnePlus 12 offers? In some ways – specifically around performance and battery life. But, there’s an argument to be made here that not many people will feel the benefit of that extra power, because you need to push it really hard to make the most of all that extra ‘oomph’. Still, if you want a fast, long-lasting, versatile flagship phone alternative to Google and Samsung’s, it’s a great choice. I’d still be tempted to pick up the Oppo Find X8 Pro, for a little more refinement in design instead or the Vivo X200 Pro for the epic zoom camera.

And at this price, it’s likely going to be the cheapest flagship here in the US. I’ve been using the OnePlus 13 as my primary phone for about a month now, and it has been fantastic. I love the photos it takes, the speed and smoothness of the software, the striking design, the Midnight Ocean color, and how comfortable it is to hold. It’s the little things that make it so good to own, such as the vastly improved fingerprint sensor, tactile haptics, the Alert Slider’s helpfulness, and the incredible efficiency that leads to long battery life. The screen is overly sensitive, though, and I’d like the notifications to be more reliable, but these are small issues that don’t dramatically detract from the rest of the phone. The OnePlus 13 is right up there with the Google Pixel 9 Pro as being an unequivocal recommendation, and Samsung really needs to deliver with the Galaxy S25 to come close to meeting the bar set by it.

OnePlus chose not to do a lot of camera upgrades this time around, so we're not really raving about it as a cameraphone. Don't get us wrong though - it remains a solid picture-taking device, with somewhat of a standout ultrawide. We'd have liked to see a closer-focusing telephoto - you'll need to look elsewhere for one of those. OP is also staying away from the display brightness race - but that's more of a blemish in the tests page than a real issue with the 13. The 13 is, in fact, quite great on the fundamentals, offering some of the longest battery life in the class, together with speedy top-ups. No longer trailing in dust and water resistance, it's now as well-sealed as the rest, and it's even a step ahead in the build department thanks to its magnetic accessories capability.
