The FX600 is a well-balanced notebook at a reasonable price. It will work well for general productivity and/or school work at home, in the office, or on the go, but don't expect to spend extended amounts of time away from a plug. It's also well suited for heavier computing tasks with its powerful Core i5 processor and respectable GT325M. Things like 3D modeling, photo editing, and video editing shouldn't be a problem, assuming you can look past the mediocre display. As powerful as it is, it's not quite enough to make a solid gaming machine, but it is capable of playing modern games on reduced settings.

As is the case with many 15.6in laptops we've seen, the MSI FX600 has very narrow vertical angles that can be a nuisance when viewing photos and videos. Reflections in the screen will also be a annoying. Overall though, the MSI FX600 is a great little unit. We love its touchpad, it's well built and relatively light at just under 2.5kg and you can use it on your lap without it feeling awkward or getting too hot as long as you are using the Intel graphics. We think it's a good unit to go for if you want a comfortable laptop that's got a good amount of CPU and graphics grunt under the hood. However, we do wish that there was a switch so that we could more easily dictate graphics card usage.

In conclusione si tratta di un buon portatile, in grado di unire assieme dimensioni compatte e peso contenuto, nonostante il display con diagonale di 15.6". L’FX600, col suo stile ricercato ed elegante non potrà quindi non piacere all’utenza business, che vi troverà tutto quello che le occorre e che non andrà certo incontro a limiti prestazionali, ma anche a un’utenza più giovane e trendy, attenta sia all’estetica che alla possibilità di fruire di film, programmi di IM e social network e giochi, anche se questi solo di tanto in tanto, come abbiamo visto, avendo l’FX600 prestazioni decorose in 3D ma non essendo certo un notebook da gioco. Purtroppo non si tratta di un prodotto perfetto, soprattutto a causa dei limiti del piano tastiera, che flette sensibilmente, e della scelta di equipaggiarlo con una batteria da soli 49 Wh, che ne limita l’autonomia, nonostante l’MSI FX600 sia un concentrato di nuove tecnologie per il risparmio energetico. Non è da escludere comunque che il prodotto che raggiungerà il mercato, possa differire in meglio in questi aspetti, visto che noi abbiamo avuto modo di testare soltanto un esemplare di pre produzione.L’MSI FX600 sarà disponibile sul mercato in due versioni, una equipaggiata con processore Intel Core i3 530 con frequenza di 2.9 GHz, processo litografico a 32 nm e TDP di 73 W, e l’altra, quella qui testata, dotata di Core i5 450M a 2.40 GHz, sempre a 32 nm ma con un TDP contenuto in soli 35 W. Il primo modello sarà proposto al prezzo di 729 € e il secondo di 819, costi che, a seconda se i problemi sopraindicati saranno risolti o meno nella versione finale del prodotto, possono essere considerati perfettamente in linea con la concorrenza, se non addirittura vantaggiosi, o lievemente troppo alti. Al mercato l’ultimo responso.

If you want a multimedia notebook, well capable of playing Blu-ray movies and reasonably cutting-edge games, the FX600 doesn't disappoint. Its spec is surprisingly well-balanced, with a bright, vibrant LCD screen, and its good quality sound is a useful addition to the mix. Battery life is only average, but most people will run this machine from the mains.
