So to the big question of whether you should buy the X1 Yoga – and an uncomfortable conversation about prices. If you want the display I tested, your only current option on lenovo.com is a customisable model that ships in “more than six weeks” and costs £2,410. That’s with the Windows 11 Pro 64 OS, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The precise spec I tested, with the part code 20XY004BUK, isn’t available, which is a shame as it also supports 4G; that’s a £140 upgrade on Lenovo’s website, or you can buy 5G for £400. Cheaper options are available. For example, £2,070 buys a Core i5 model with Windows 11 Home 64, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, a 1,920 x 1,200 screen and 4G. That’s not cheap, but it includes a three-year return-to-base warranty you can upgrade to on-site for £89. Should your IT department offer you the X1 Yoga Gen 6 as a laptop then I wouldn’t hesitate: it’s a great convertible laptop despite the minor weaknesses I’ve highlighted. I just hope that they can negotiate a better deal than what’s currently on offer direct from Lenovo.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 is a gem of a 2-in-1 laptop, albeit an expensive one. It's compact and well-made, with a superb keyboard, a high-resolution screen and an excellent audio subsystem. The bundled, garaged stylus and good range of ports are additional plus points, and the ability to configure the laptop to meet your precise needs, including up to 2TB of SSD storage, is welcome. There's a question mark over battery life, but this may be a glitch with my review unit. If my battery problem proves to be a one-off, then the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 is a premium 14-inch 2-in-1 to be reckoned with.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops you're going to find on the market, marrying powerful performance with a fantastic 16:10 display and Intel Evo vPro certification, but it all comes at a cost that puts it well into the premium laptop class.

Lenovo didn’t need six tries to get the X1 Yoga right, but the Gen 6 model is the best one yet. It now offers respectable battery life and superior performance with Intel’s Evo platform. Combined with its other strengths, especially its productive 16:10 screen and excellent input devices, the X1 Yoga Gen 6 takes a well-deserved Editors' Choice award for a premium business convertible.

It's easy to overlook the ThinkPad X1 Yoga. Ignore competing brands and the hybrid laptop still has to make a case against the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, X1 Titanium Yoga, X1 Nano and X1 Extreme — a group of critically acclaimed business laptops, each with their strengths. But after putting the X1 Yoga Gen 6 through its paces, I strongly advise giving this laptop your full attention. The X1 Yoga separates itself from others in the field with a bounty of extra features, from the IR camera and fingerprint sensor to the garaged stylus and webcam cover. If you're a business user who wants a portable 2-in-1 laptop, or an IT admin setting your team up with the very best hardware, then the ThinkPad X1 Yoga is a first-rate choice. I'd be remiss to not mention other capable options in the segment — like the HP EliteBook 1040 G7 or the Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 — so shop wisely before settling on such a hefty investment.

I believe Lenovo did a fantastic job with the 6th generation ThinkPad X1 Yoga at the end of it all. The laptop has plenty of power behind it thanks to the latest 11th generation Intel SoC combined with 16GB of RAM. Any person or company that may be looking into purchasing this laptop won’t be disappointed.

Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6, the 2021 redesign of their 360 degree convertible Ultrabook with Intel 11th gen Tiger Lake CPUs, 16:10 aspect ratio displays supporting pen and touch, and Thunderbolt 4. The X1 Yoga 6th gen shares much of its DNA with the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 9th gen, and it now sports a storm grey aluminum exterior with excellent build quality. 4G and 5G WWAN are optional on this business 2-in-1 laptop, and you can get it with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD.

Which is all well and good, if that’s what you want. If you’re looking for a modern ThinkPad that’s competitive with today’s best laptops, and especially if you’re interested in tidbits like Linux and human presence detection, this is probably your dream machine. I just feel obligated to note that if you’re so-so on the ThinkPad branding, you can get most of what this offers for much cheaper.

Let’s put it straight – this is an expensive, premium business laptop, that is poised to offer a ton of features. And it quite does. Most of them are aimed at security and privacy. This is achieved by the integrated TPM 2.0 module. In addition to that, there is a fingerprint reader, a camera privacy shutter, and an optional IR face recognition scanner. So, if you are in a search of a business laptop with great built quality, display with a ton of potential, and hardware that allows you to do a professional job, this is a pretty solid offering. However, you should be prepared to break your piggy bank or prepare one of your kidneys for a brief transaction.
