Ma alla fine non voglio discriminare il MateBook e spezzo una lancia in favore di Huawei, anche perché questo è il primo tentativo dell’azienda cinese di introdursi in questo tipo di mercato ed è possibile che la prossima generazione possa correggere i difetti di questa. Concludiamo le analisi del display con una valutazione empirica degli angoli di visione. Come di consueto per i pannelli LCD IPS l'immagine rimane leggibile ad ogni angolo senza troppe problematiche. In questo specifico ambito il pannello del 2-in-1 Huawei si comporta particolarmente bene, con luminosità e rapporto di contrasto che rimangono quasi del tutto inalterati anche agli angoli più estremi. L'immagine perde leggermente in contrasto soprattutto se il display viene ruotato lungo l'asse orizzontale, ma rientriamo entro valori ottimali e ampiamente accettabili.

Un ottimo tablet, anche se non portabilissimo. Lato PC pecca di stabilità. Peccato perchè gira davvero bene, la penna è fluida e permette di scrivere davvero come se ci si trovasse davanti a un foglio di carta e tutto il sistema è stabile. Costa però tanto se lo dobbiamo sfruttare solo come tablet. Bella la tastiera e le finiture, non scalda ma le prestazioni non permettono usi gravosi.

Questo nuovo Huawei MateBook si posiziona in una fascia molto particolare che sta riscontrando un buon successo di pubblico e critica per via della flessibilità operativa. Per quanto ci è stato possibile provare, il nuovo prodotto sembra essere particolarmente interessante ma potrebbe anche soffrire la concorrenza di altri brand che hanno fatto della loro presenza nel mondo PC una vera e propria missione per il business. Il produttore cinese potrebbe pensare a realizzare una strategia di mercato aggressiva in mercati chiave come quello statunitense o in Cina per tentare di imporsi anche in questo settore. La qualità di Huawei MateBook ricalca quella degli smartphone presentati recentemente ed è sicuramente un buon biglietto d'ingresso, ora non resta che aspettare il responso del mercato. Che la battaglia abbia inizio!

You can attach almost any peripheral to this, including an external monitor (using adapters) or buy Huawei’s multi-port dock (assuming that anyone’s selling it), but this is more bother and expense. But I’m not willing to accept the poor ergonomics of a floppy fixed-angle keyboard, not when so many of its competitors offer better solutions. A single USB-C slot, the lack of an SD reader, optional accessories that are essentially required equipment—these are all sacrifices that I might grudgingly make. But I have to draw the line somewhere, and these poor excuses for keyboards are it. Samsung and Apple could have done better. Huawei, too, could do better.

The MateBook is Huawei’s first attempt at a Windows 10 tablet PC, and it’s a home run. It’s got the clean Windows 10 “Signature Edition” software, all the hardware drivers are working beautifully (except for one time when the fingerprint scanner didn’t work, requiring a reboot), the hardware itself is working beautifully, and the one added Huawei Assistant program is minimal, non-obtrusive, and absolutely useful. Not only is everything stable and smooth, but the hardware is gorgeous. Then you’ve got the accessories. The leather keyboard cover feels oh so premium. The MatePen works beautifully and includes awesome presentation remote and laser pointer features. The MateDock provides all the extra ports you might need that are missing from the MateBook’s ultra-thin metal frame. It feels like Huawei thought of everything and executed it practically perfectly.

Per essere il primo esperimento in campo notebook, secondo me Huawei ha fatto centro. Ha tirato fuori un prodotto competitivo, non perfetto ma assolutamente valido. Su alcune cose ha superato la concorrenza: il raffreddamento passivo è una manna dal cielo, il display è eccellente sotto tanti punti di vista, le dimensioni generali invitano a portarsi sempre dietro il notebook e autonomia e prestazioni, sebbene siano entrambi aspetti da rifinire, risultano essere più che valide per lavorare anche a lungo.
