The vivo T1 5G at first glance, whether by its looks or spec sheet, seems to be your typical mid-ranger. It has a beautiful design, a nice set of cameras, and a powerful chipset. However, these are common characteristics of smartphones nowadays. However, vivo took an effort to give it software features normally found in “gaming” smartphones. This will not just help the device perform well, but it will also provide its users with a good gaming experience.

Vivo T1 smartphone is available in 4 different variants with different names such as Vivo T1 China, Vivo T1 India, Vivo T1 Snapdragon 778G and Vivo T1 Snapdragon 680. The main difference in the Vivo T1 Snapdragon model is 4G and 5G support, but the other features look similar. For the Vivo T1 China and India variant, we have a separate section definitely take a look.

When it comes to smartphones below Rs 20,000 in India, the market is crowded. It can be argued that India is the most competitive market for such devices and in the last seven years, Xiaomi has held the segment with a vice-like grip. Vivo’s T1 5G challenges this ascendency in a very thoughtful way. The phone does certain things that Xiaomi’s recent phones haven’t managed — superlative performance, epic battery life, and good cameras. Sure, Vivo needs to work more on the cameras and the build quality of its phones by adding things like splash-resistance and Gorilla Glass, but the fundamentals are right here with clean software. This is certainly a contender for anyone who wants a fast, affordable phone or even for someone looking for a great secondary phone. My recommendation is to steer clear away from the base level 4GB RAM model as that could run into performance issues, though with either of the other models you should be golden.

Vivo has been expanding its budget segment portfolio in India since the new year began and was the first OEM to launch a smartphone in India in 2022. The brand recently launched the Vivo T1 at Rs 15,990 for the base model which comes with the Snapdragon 695 which is fairly a new processor that was revealed in late 2021. We also have the Moto G71 and the Realme 9 Pro that are powered by this very same SoC and are also priced similarly. So let’s find out if the Vivo T1 is worth your money or its competition is. Design-wise, the Vivo T1 looks ordinary with triple cameras at the rear housed inside a rectangular camera module. The device has flat sides and a plastic body which doesn’t feel very premium when you hold it. The black variant we got has a shiny glittery back panel. Then there’s a bottom-firing single speaker that sounds average but gets surprisingly loud.

Okay, this brings me to the end of my review of the Vivo T1 5G. So, should you buy this phone? Frankly speaking, I am hesitant to say a direct Yes! And I have some reasons for saying that. Yep, it has a fairly capable chipset, that offers balanced performance and the camera can pull off great photos—something I believe most mid-range phones lack. But that’s basically where the edge of T1 comes to an end. Despite having a 120Hz display, it isn’t fully optimized, the ultra-wide sensor is missing from the camera stack, and while being a 5G focused device, it even lacks a sufficient amount of 5G bands. The device also has an old dewdrop notch that certainly looks out of place in 2022. And the company hasn’t even included a stereo speaker setup to enhance the multimedia experience. So, putting these pros and cons side-by-side on a scale, I definitely do not need to tell which side has the upper hand. For a similar price, I believe Realme 9 Pro 5G should be a better value for money, as it has a higher number of 5G bands—at least higher than Vivo T1;

The vivo T1 5G looks wonderful, glows in the sunlight, and comes in a slim form factor. Aside from its design, it equips a fast Snapdragon 695 processor, a 120 Hz display, and a 50 MP camera. Overall, vivo T1 5G has a great package to offer given the price, the price starts at ₹15,990 for its base variant i.e. 4 GB RAM and 128 GB stoarge.

The Vivo T1 makes a strong proposition considering the starting price of Rs 15,990. Plus, the 6GB RAM version only costs Rs 1000 more than the base version, so this is very carefully priced. It will compete against the Realme 9 Pro (starting at Rs 17,990) which also has the same processor as the T1. Another competitor will be the Redmi Note 11S (starting at Rs 15,499). The Vivo T1 has some good points in its favour. The display and performance are strong points, the camera is not too bad, and the battery size is adequate. The device can handle some of the resource-heavy games, though if you really start pushing it, you can see the phone struggle. But again, this is competing in the Rs 20,000 segment, so to expect a flawless performance here would be too much.

Vivo’s new T series smartphones are aimed straight at Generation Z users. Such users, according to Vivo, seek well-designed gadgets with good specs for the price. And that is why Vivo T1 5G has a 120Hz refresh rate display, a 50MP high-resolution camera, and the most latest Android operating system. It is backed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor which is a strong performer, with no lag or stuttering even when multiple apps are open at the same time. Users can also virtually increase the RAM on the smartphone by up to 4GB, which helps to improve its overall performance. The main 50MP sensor’s picture quality is good in daylight or well-lit environments. The phone features a 5,000 mAh battery capacity and can fast-charge at 18W. The Vivo T1 5G delivers decent battery life, performance, and is partnered with a solid set of cameras for a base variant pricing of Rs 15,990. Despite the company’s commendable effort, the smartphone still has a lot of room for improvement. So, is the Vivo T1 5G the right phone for you? Let’s find out.

The Vivo T1 5G gets a few things right, however, it has a lot of scope for improvement in display, camera and a few other segments. The company has clearly cut down several features just to accommodate the Snapdragon 695 chipset. Though, it is not a bad option, but the competition does seem to have an edge over it. It faces stiff rivalry from Redmi Note 11S and Realme 8, all of which boast of superior display, cameras and charging speeds.

The Vivo T1 5G is the first smartphone in the new T-series aimed at Gen Z buyers. Vivo has focused on sought-after specifications such as a powerful SoC, 5G, a 120Hz refresh rate display, and a big battery. However, in order to deliver these at an aggressive price, some compromises have been made, such as the dewdrop notch that looks dated, limited 5G band support, no ultra-wide-angle camera, and only 18W charging. The entry-level 4GB RAM variant of the Vivo T1 5G also misses out on some camera features, which potential buyers should be aware of. While some of these factors could make the Vivo T1 5G less appealing for some buyers, the pricing will still make sense for many others. If you want to consider alternatives, the Moto G71 5G (Review), Realme 8s 5G (Review), and Redmi Note 11T 5G (Review) are all worth considering.

The Vivo T1 5G starts at Rs 15,990 for the 4GB RAM variant and for the price, gets a couple of things right. The smartphone scores top marks in the design department and the handset is a capable performer too. Furthermore, I had no complaints about the phone’s battery backup either. That said, the T1 5G’s display isn’t without its faults and the smartphone’s audio setup is nothing to write home about either. Furthermore, while the phone can click good-looking photos during the day, at night, the quality of the shots takes a steep dip. Correspondingly, while I commend Vivo for coming out with a new-age smartphone series, the T1 5G has a lot of room for improvement. Be that as it may, if you were on the lookout for a stylish phone with a fantastic selfie camera, you should definitely consider the T1 5G. For everyone else, the market has plenty of other well-rounded devices to offer.

The Vivo T1 smartphone comes with 5G support and the expected price is $210 (Rs 15,990 in India) approx. The expected release date of the T1 phone is February 2022, which comes with a 120Hz refresh rate IPS LCD display, 1080p resolution, Android 11 OS, Funtouch 12 UI, Snapdragon 695 5G 6nm chipset, 50 MP main camera, 16 MP selfie camera, 5000 mAh Li-Po battery and 18W fast charging.

The Vivo T1 tries to do a lot of things by offering features like a high refresh rate display, Snapdragon 600-series chipset, multiple cameras and a high-capacity battery to boot, all under Rs 20,000. But we can’t ignore the fact that it comes as a downside when you look closely at these features. The display uses an LCD panel, the ultra-wide sensor is missing from the camera stack and the phone takes aeons to fully charge.

The Vivo T1 5G runs Funtouch OS 12 which is based on Android 12 . The interface feels fresh and there are some new features. I did find a lot of preinstalled apps on the device including Moj, Josh, MX Takatak, Cred, Share Chat, and Facebook. You can uninstall them to free up some storage space if needed. With the T1 5G, Vivo has delivered a different design and a fairly good processor. The company thinks this will appeal to the Gen Z consumer shopping in this price range, particularly for its performance. The processor and 120Hz refresh rate could be good for gaming, but this phone lacks a wide-angle camera, its notch looks dated, and charging isn't as quick as it can be on other phones, so this isn't necessarily an all-rounder. The sub-Rs.20,000 price segment is becoming a hotspot for budget 5G smartphones, and the Vivo T1 5G will face some feature-rich competition. Some of its direct competitors are the Moto G71 5G and the Redmi Note 11T 5G (Review). These phones offer good performance for the price and have the potential to sway buyers in their direction.

With its starting price of Rs 15,999 for the 4 GB/ 128 GB version, the Vivo T1 5G may be setting itself up for a tough battle. Yes, the phone comes with a new processor– the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 (the performance of which is yet to be tested, though) and Android 12 out of the box, but other than that, it does not have any major strong specs card up its sleeve. In fact, most of its specs can be mentioned with a “but.” It comes with a tall 6.58-inch full HD+ display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, but it is an LCD display, not an AMOLED one. It has a triple camera arrangement, but the supporting cameras are merely 2 megapixels each. Then comes the 5,000 mAh battery, which is large, but does not bring as fast charging support as others bring in this category. The likes of the Redmi Note 11 series, the Realme 8 series, the Poco X3 and X3 Pro and the Motorola Moto G71 all come with similar or even better specs in some departments and are in the same price zone. Will the Vivo T1 5G be able to survive in this sea of competitive sharks?

Both the Vivo T1 and T1x models have their own flaws and strengths. Still, suppose you are looking for a decent mid-range phone that offers exceptional features. In that case, the Vivo T1 is a great choice that you should consider because it offers remarkable processing powers, proper camera setup, advanced display features, and much more things that are hard to find in the mid-range 5G market. On the other hand, the Vivo T1x smartphone is a valuable choice with similar features, but few corners are cut to keep the price tag low. Even so, the phone feels very much in terms of price and specs. At the same time, if we have to recommend one of these, Vivo T1 is undoubtedly the best option you can find. As for the alternative option, you can also check out the gaming-centric Vivo iQOO Z5x smartphone.

Qualcomm Adreno 642L:
