A superb keyboard, fantastic display and great build quality put the Samsung right at the front of the pack. It beats rival Asus' 1005HA for sheer value for money, and if quality is paramount, it's doubly a winner.

Samsung is knocking out new netbooks like there is no tomorrow. Yet, with the N120 and N310, we have seen the company try to define new netbook genres where there really aren't any. The former is marketed as a multimedia optimised machine, while the latter targets anyone swayed by styling and fancies a laptop that resembles a bar of soap. Taken on its own merits the N110 is a very appealing machine. The problem is that the differences, such as they are, don't really justify the price hike over the NC10. With Samsung launching several variations on the netbook theme recently, it should just have bitten the bullet and priced the N110 as a direct replacement for the NC10 rather than as a putative improvement.

The Samsung N110 is an update to the company’s popular and impressive NC10 mini-notebook, which we looked at last year. The eagle-eyed will spot that it also bears a resemblance to the N310 which we reviewed more recently, and which is likewise a replacement for the NC10 netbook. An impressive notebook that combines good looks, comfort and capability

The Samsung N110 is an update to the company’s popular and impressive NC10 mini-notebook, which we looked at last year. The eagle-eyed will spot that it also bears a resemblance to the N310 which we reviewed more recently, and which is likewise a replacement for the NC10 netbook. That said, the earlier NC10 is still available for around £300, so if you don’t mind an older model and smaller trackpad and hard disk, that could be the best deal of all.

The Samsung N110 impressed us in a lot of categories, but we also found some areas that could be improved. The keyboard felt cramped compared some other netbooks and the screen felt washed out in some aspects. On the other hand the build quality was excellent, the design was great, and the battery life was phenomenal. The price is somewhat high when you look at some of the larger 11.6" and 12" netbooks on the market, but it does lead the way in battery life. If unplugged performance is the most important thing you are looking for the Samsung N110 easily has you covered.

The original Samsung NC10 is still available, and at around £50 less than the N110 it remains an attractive purchase. Either model can stand proud as an excellent netbook compared to competition that often just misses the mark in aspects such as keyboard quality, battery life or speaker performance. But if you want to stretch to the extra for the N110 you’ll be rewarded with a mini laptop possessing great usability, better than average build quality and outstanding battery life.

The recent deluge of netbooks all with nearly identical specifications, layouts and features can make it difficult to tell them apart, and the biggest differentiating factor is often battery life and price. The N110 is a great example of a netbook: a solid machine that that strikes a good balance between portability and usability. But it comes in at the top end of the netbook price range.

Overall the N110 is a solid and dependable netbook. The quality of the build is compelling and the keyboard really impresses. It is also a silver nano keyboard, which claims to keep bacteria growth under control, if that is a concern of yours. With netbooks elsewhere battling it out for the super-slim title, it is nice to have a device that might not bowl you over with its looks, but does the job asked of it. We'd have liked to have seen a 3G modem included to round out the mobile worker's dream specs, but otherwise, we'd choose the long battery life over a few millimetres of bulk any day.

Samsung's NC10 was the netbook that finally got it right. Great battery life, a comfy keyboard and, best of all, looks that didn't require you to hang your head in shame every time you plucked it from your bag. It wasn't perfect though, and after a few months of toil in Samsung's R&D labs it has re-emerged in the form of the new and improved N110. The best just got better, but not by much. Nine-hour battery life and a bit of plastic surgery aim to justify the £40 price hike - but it's not quite enough.

When we recently reviewed the Samsung N120, we found it to be one of the better 10-inch netbooks we have seen. With the $469 N110, you get many of the impressive qualities of the N120, minus the high-performing speakers. What you get in return, though, is battery life that is better than that of any other netbook we’ve seen. The Samsung N110 will take you a long way with its stellar battery life and impressive performance.

With the Samsung N110 (12PBK) ($470 street), the company has basically taken everything that's great about its original NC10-14GB 10-inch netbook, added a bigger battery, and renamed it. You can't even really call it an evolution because when a company launches a new model, the differences between it and the previous version should be more evident. Still, the N110 is a solid (albeit pricey) netbook that gives you a 93 percent keyboard and nearly 8 hours of battery life. If a better bargain is what you're after, however, the ASUS EeePC 1000HE is the ticket. The Samsung N110 is a solid netbook (albeit a pricey one), but it doesn't make any game-changing innovations.

Samsung has a bevy of netbooks out with bafflingly similar names. The N110 and larger N120, which we recently reviewed, are follow-ups to the NC10, which despite its generic looks, we liked for its long battery life. The N110 remains a solid example of the form, but there are several sub-£300 netbooks (such as the Lenovo S10e) that do the same job for less.

Samsung, long an international laptop player, re-entered the U.S. computer market last year with a functional (if not exactly exciting) slate of systems, including the NC10 Netbook. Despite its generic looks, we liked its long battery life, and the follow-up N110 model is similarly impressive. Samsung's second-generation Netbook, the N110, offers extended life without adding too much battery bulk.

Up-sell: it's a phrase that's heard quite often in the TrustedReviews office, though it's never uttered by any of the wordsmiths that write these articles. However, our Publishing Manager -an affable Australian with a special love for Excel spreadsheets - can often be heard using the term, often prefaced with other jargon such as 'top line', 'up-weight' and 'run rate' - he speaks the English language, just not as we know it. Despite not adding a great deal over the NC10, the N110 is still an outstanding netbook provided you don't care about mooted extras such as video decoding. Thus, once the NC10 is inevitably discontinued, the N110 is one netbook that should be on most people's lists.

A bit of streamlining (better plastics and a slimmer profile) here and a couple tweaks (immense improvement on the mouse button) there... it all adds up to the Samsung N110 polishing away blemishes found on the original Samsung NC10. So if you find some echoes between the two reviews, they're entirely intentional. Offering an improved mouse button and impressive battery life, the Samsung N110 would make a great choice for your next road trip.

Offering an improved mouse button and impressive battery life, the Samsung N110 would make a great choice for your next road trip. At $470, it isn't by any means the cheapest netbook on the block, but it certainly is a handsome, functional one. While I salute Samsung for correcting design flaws present in the NC10, I'd have preferred to see this the first time around.

Samsung’s updated 10-inch netbook continues to beat the competition with an improved touchpad and more than 7 hours of battery life. Samsung has created a near-perfect netbook in its N110. Thanks to the improved ergonomics of the touchpad, and north of 7 hours of battery life, it improves on an already stellar system and continues to beat out the competition. Though customers can get similarly configured netbooks with six-cell batteries for considerably less money—the Acer Aspire One AOD150 costs $120 less and the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE $70 less—the N110 offers a better keyboard and better endurance than both of those models and is lighter than the ASUS. Samsung’s $469 premium price tag is well worth it for those who cherish longer battery life.
