OnePlus 5 è disponibile in due diversi tagli di memoria e colorazione: la configurazione con 6GB di RAM è accompagnata da 64GB di ROM, quella da 8GB di RAM ha invece ben 128GB di ROM. I colori sono Slate Gray e l’ormai classico Midnight Black (disponibile al momento solo nella configurazione 8/128). I prezzi rispettivamente sono di 499€ e 559€.

Alla fine di questa prova mi tornano in mente solo le critiche, scovate in rete, rivolte al telefono in questi giorni. Come mai? Questa volta OnePlus ha fatto colpo, non c’è che dire. Certo, non è un dispositivo perfetto, ma nessuno lo è, altrimenti non ci sarebbe la necessità di acquistare quello della generazione successiva. OnePlus 5 ha ancora necessità di affinamenti, ma la strada è quella giusta. Considerando che l’azienda ha avviato la propria attività a fine 2013, è una realtà che impara in fretta, a quanto pare!

In conclusione OnePlus 5 è sicuramente un passo in avanti rispetto al precedente modello già comunque ottimo di suo, forse sotto certi aspetti mi aspettavo qualcosa in più anche se effettivamente il margine di miglioramento c’è, l’arma vincente è senza ombra di dubbio il prezzo anche se modello dopo modello sta lievitando.

OnePlus 5 è un dispositivo ormai maturo, che ha ben poco da invidiare agli altri top di gamma (alcuni avrebbero addirittura da imparare, ma questo è un discorso che affronteremo in altre sedi). La fluidità del dispositivo non teme rivali, come del resto le performance fatte registrare, veramente magistrali. Il passo in avanti fatto con la fotocamera è evidente. Siamo rimasti piacevolmente colpiti anche dal software, che ben sposa l’architettura hardware di primo livello. Nel complesso, un telefono che sentiremo di consigliare anche al cliente più esigente.

La domanda è indubbiamente spinosa, anche perché la promessa di Pete Lau è ormai vinta e la società ha iniziato a fidelizzare una piccola fetta dell'utenza enthusiast che segue con passione la categoria. È tuttavia indubbio che ci sono sul mercato smartphone che offrono qualcosina di più, quella caratteristica che come abbiamo detto in passato spinge all'acquisto compulsivo: il design di Galaxy S8 è ad oggi imbattuto ad esempio, insieme al suo fantastico display edge-less con doppia curvatura. L'altra coreana, LG, ha offerto il suo G6 con display solo leggermente più conservativo rispetto a quello dei connazionali.

E quindi, in questo mare di dubbi e controversie, troviamo un alleato reale in un dispositivo senza fronzoli, ma che si fa usare con gusto. Certo, sarebbe bastato poco per renderlo un po’ più diverso dal telefono della mela, e OnePlus può ancora lavorare (molto) sulla trasparenza aziendale, perché si era fregiata di questo nei primi periodi. Ma ciò che continua a sfornare, per me, è simbolo di una maturità già raggiunta ma ancora da perfezionare. Prezzi importanti ma in linea con la concorrenza: si parte da 499€ per il modello 6/64 per arrivare infine a 559€ per quello 8/128 – si acquista dal sito OnePlus. Il primo potrebbe essere già più che sufficiente ai più, permettendoci di portare a casa un device top di gamma con molta RAM e storage sotto i 500€.

Per concludere la recensione di OnePlus 5, si tratta di un dispositivo che ha grosse potenzialità ed è probabilmente lo smartphone più performante attualmente in commercio in termini di pura potenza e fluidità del sistema (anche se sarà necessario un confronto con HTC U11 per decretare un vincitore). Questo tuttavia non vuol dire che sia il miglior smartphone in commercio: nonostante l’ulteriore incremento di prezzo, OnePlus non ha apportato grosse innovazioni quest’anno in ambiti come il display e l’impermeabilità, mentre nel comparto fotografico ci ha tentato ma non è ancora riuscita a raggiungere i competitor più agguerriti.

Anche OnePlus alza l'asticella del prezzo. I bei tempi dell'one a 299 euro sono finiti. Ma i tempi sono anche cambiati. OnePlus one era un esperimento, ben riuscito, inizialmente partito un po' zoppicante, migliorato poi nel tempo, con una geniale politica di marketing a inviti. Ora OnePlus è matura. E strutturata. A livello assistenza, a livello prodotto, a livello qualità ma anche a livello marketing. Tutte cose che si pagano. E per 499 euro al lancio difficilmente si può trovare di meglio in giro. Anche se con S8 e altri top usciti da un po' di tempo quasi agli stessi livelli di prezzo la scelta è sempre più ardua.

On the other hand, if you opt for the 8GB/128GB version for AED 2099, that puts the OnePlus 5 in close range of the Samsung Galaxy S8 which might have a lesser amount of RAM and storage space but has a better design and features such as the Infinity Display, Always-On screen, Wireless Charging and a Dual Pixel camera which takes incredibly good pictures. This makes it difficult for me to recommend the OnePlus 5 to the general user- even though I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing it. Okay, there is the Xiaomi Mi 6 for RM1899, but we haven't really tested it so we can't say for sure about that. But one thing for sure is that this is called a "flagship killer" for a good reason, if you compare to the iPhone 7 Plus which is RM3699, the OnePlus 5 is obviously a better alternative since both have that similar telephoto lens. It's also much more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy S8 which goes for RM3299 (now RM2595, but still if you don't like the Infinity Display, the OnePlus 5 is definitely more preferable). Granted, the Huawei P10 is currently going for RM1939 from RM2499 but this is more of for those who prefer a dedicated monochrome sensor.

La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).
