Every year, Motorola raises the bar with its latest Moto G phones, but the G Stylus feels like a lateral move, opting for the inclusion of a built-in stylus at the expense of other fundamentals like performance, camera, and display. While the $230 price point is still compelling, there are better options out there in 2021.

Speaking personally, I think the Samsung and Nokia phones have a little bit more going for them, particularly when it comes to design. The TCL 10, less so. However, they don’t come close to meeting the Motorola Moto G series in one vital department: battery life. If battery life is your primary concern, you can’t go wrong with either the Moto G Power or the Moto G Stylus. The G Power, in particular, delivers dividends on battery life with three days of uptime. The G Stylus may only reach two days, but that’s still better than many devices in any price range.

The Moto G Stylus is a solid phone with an interesting feature that makes it easier to jot down notes whenever you want. It delivers good performance for the price and the cameras — while hit and miss — generally produce some decent shots if not the kinds of quality photos you'd get from the Pixel 3a or iPhone SE. If you don't want to spend more than $300 on a phone, the Moto G Stylus is a very good option.

This leaves the Moto G Pro with a stylus, microSD card support, and nice-sounding stereo loudspeakers to brag about while failing to impress in other key aspects. The Moto G Pro is a good example of a niche product, which we find hard to recommend for the wide audience but we're sure it will find its fans as there is nothing wrong with it but it's slighly higher price.

The $300 Moto G Stylus is a capable smartphone with a stylus that makes it easy to take notes and make handwritten lists on the fly. The doodling experience is hampered by a lack of palm rejection, but the fact that the option remains to take quick, handwritten notes will compel some to consider it. Aside from the pen, the G Stylus is almost identical to the Moto G Power and it has solid performance plus a great 14-hour battery life. It takes its best photos in good lighting and, while the included macro lens is a strange choice, it ultimately adds a unique flare that makes it stand out among other mid-range smartphones. However, the G Power’s lack of NFC, disappointing Night Mode photography and its plastic design prove that sacrifice is necessary when opting for a more affordable handset.

It almost couldn’t be a worse time to launch a budget-conscious smartphone. Yes, people are being more frugal, but there are already amazing options out there: if Apple’s iPhone SE 2020 lives up to its 2016-era predecessor, it’ll easily earn its $400 price tag, and rumors have Google’s Pixel 4a launching soon around the same price. If that weren’t enough, last year’s most excellent Pixel 3a just dropped to $299, which I think is the deal of the year so far. With competition like that, you might ask why anyone would want to buy a Moto G Stylus for $299. And my answer would ordinarily be no one – not even for the stylus in the silo – were it not for a reduction at the retailers. Join me for the Moto G Stylus Review!

Aside from the expensive Galaxy Note 10, the Moto G Stylus is the best stylus-equipped smartphone you can buy. For $299, it offers solid performance, a big, bright display, and long battery life. That said, you can get nearly identical features and performance—not to mention longer battery life—for $50 less with the Moto G Power. And if you're willing to spend more, we recommend that Pixel 3a for its more powerful hardware, faster OS updates, and best-in-class camera. Of course, neither of these alternative come with a stylus, and if that's what you're looking for, you can't beat the Moto G Stylus for the price.

There doesn’t seem to be much not to like about the new Moto G line, and that’s always encouraging in the world of budget smartphones. Both the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power appear to hit all the right notes: they’re more powerful than their predecessors, they’re equipped with massive batteries, and this time Motorola hasn’t raised their prices — which is a rare feat nowadays, as costs continue to rise across all phone categories.

These phones are not the most impressive I’ve ever seen, but they offer a good value. The price points are quite appealing considering what you get. What worries me most is the middling performance we saw from the Moto One devices last year. If these new devices are anything like those, Motorola may be in trouble. If the G Stylus and G Power represent a step up in performance, then Motorola’s outlook is brighter. Let’s hope for the latter.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G is such a niche play, it’s hard to quantify against other devices. No other 5G-capable, stylus-equipped phone is as affordable as the G Stylus 5G. LG used to compete in this space, but with its market exit, the Moto G Stylus 5G is alone in its niche. You’d have to look at the $1,199 Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra to find the same combination of features. It is easy to laud the battery life, clean build of Android, and solid everyday performance of the phone, but the Snapdragon 480 5G holds the phone back somewhat. It may sip power, but it doesn’t deliver the fast and fluid experience some potential buyers might want. The camera does well for the most part, though low-light shots and selfies suffer. Motorola’s single-year commitment to updates (and two years of security patches) is also a bit thin compared to Samsung’s A series. The Moto G Stylus 5G is a good phone, but it’s not without faults. As the only comer in the affordable 5G stylus market, those faults might seem minor to some.

I really like the Moto G Stylus 5G. It’s got great battery life and a unique interaction with the pen, but it’s hard to recommend those dreadful software updates. Moto still lags way too behind other competitors in this regard to the point that it’s now just embarrassing for the brand. Despite the software setbacks, this could still be a great option for those willing to take on outdated updates. At just $2 a month in AT&T installments, or $249 full retail, the Moto G Stylus 5G is a steal for those on a budget.

The Moto G Stylus 5G is a competent mid-range smartphone with decent internals behind a solid display. But, the price puts it in front of a ton of hardened competition, and its stylus gimmicks don’t set it far enough apart to stay afloat. The Moto G Stylus 5G is not to be confused with the Moto G Stylus (2021), though it's a curious update that certainly lends itself to confusion. The Moto G Stylus 5G is borrowing a lot from the reputation of its predecessor and only changed a few things, notably adding 5G connectivity with a $100 price bump in tow — hitting $400 (about £290, AU$545) total.

Everything else about the Moto G Stylus 5G is pretty solid. You’ve got a massive 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging that should juice it up in no time at all, and that headphone jack deserves an honorable mention. It also supports 5G connectivity in supported markets, but this is unfortunately pretty tough for me to test. AT&T does have 5G in my area, but it’s regular 5G, not the 5G+ you actually want. The Stylus connects to it, but with middling 15mbps download speeds, it’s nothing to focus on, and probably won’t be for a few more years. The phone does lack any IP resistance, so be careful taking it around a running sink or the beach. But all in all, $399 gets you a small tablet sized screen with decent performance, a nifty stylus, and a well-rounded experience that makes Motorola look like a very solid choice. Just don’t expect too many software updates.

The Moto G Stylus 5G has a Snapdragon 480 5G processor which worked well for pretty much everything I did from playing games like PUBG Mobile and Alto's Adventure to watching Loki on Disney Plus to just scrolling through social media. In benchmark tests, the Moto G Stylus 5G scored lower in single-core tests than the January Moto G Stylus. But in multicore and gaming tests, the Stylus 5G did better. The 4G-only G Stylus is a good deal for $279, and there’s nothing really wrong with the $399 G Stylus 5G, but it’s harder to justify its higher cost. With only a couple of years of security updates guaranteed, this phone will only see the beginning of truly good 5G in the US. It’s a nice step-up option if you’re inclined toward a stylus phone and the Note isn’t in your budget, but for most people, I’d recommend either sticking with the 4G-only model for a couple of years or looking into a 5G phone with a little more longevity.

After a thoroughly disappointing G-series rollout in early 2021, the Moto G Stylus 5G is a breath of fresh air, with 5G connectivity, a beautiful display, good cameras, up-to-date software, and multi-day battery life. If you’re a die-hard stylus fan, it’s an excellent option—in fact, it’s the only option (other than the G Stylus) that will cost you less than $1,000. At $400, however, it faces some pretty stiff competition in the midrange market. If a stylus is not a must, the Google Pixel 4a 5G is a better value, especially for camera hounds, and the OnePlus Nord N10 5G will give you a similar experience for $100 less. Motorola has put in a lot of work to make a phone with a lot to like, but the G Stylus 5G just isn’t quite the midrange game-changer it’s meant to be.

Motorola tends to react quickly to market trends, releasing devices with a startling speed to capitalize on strategic niches across the midrange spectrum. The G Stylus line is one example of this, and with LG out of commission and the Galaxy Note family stuck in limbo, the brand can now target a larger slice of the pen-wielding pie. All this converges in the Moto G Stylus 5G, the newest member of the G series and Motorola’s first 5G smartphone with a built-in stylus. Priced at $399, the device is poised to appeal to anyone who appreciates an extra layer of precision at their fingertips. Does it succeed? Mostly yes. The Stylus 5G certainly gets more things right than wrong, enough that most people may be perfectly pleased with the experience offered. But a few glaring omissions make it fall short of stellar. If that pen is a deal breaker, this is your de facto choice. For everyone else, there are probably better values out there, whether from competitors or from Motorola itself.

Over the past several years, Motorola’s G-series phones have consistently received high scores and often earned our Editors’ Choice award. Sadly, the G Stylus merits neither. With the exception of its problematic screen, there’s almost no significant change. The hardware is nearly identical to what you’ll find on the 2020 G Stylus, save for a minor update to the chipset, minor stylus improvements, and the software is the same. If you’re a fan of Motorola, check out the Moto G Power; it’s a better value overall (though it's also got several flaws). The phone is a definite upgrade over the vanilla G Stylus (2022) and its predecessor, the G Stylus 5G (2021). The phone’s modern processor and larger RAM configuration give it a significant performance boost, and the addition of NFC is long overdue. Battery life is about the same, however, and the newer phone’s faster display isn’t significantly improved when it comes to contrast or brightness. The cameras aren’t much more to write home about either. Despite the improvements, the similarities between these phones leave the $499 price point of the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) feeling a little high. You can save yourself quite a bit by going with the 2022 LTE-only G Stylus ($299), or get many of the same features from the 2021 G Stylus 5G ($399) for $200 less. These deliver on basics such as battery life and software experience. You could also get the cheaper version of the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) from a carrier of choice, although those models have less RAM and storage. Then there are the real competitors. The Google Pixel 6a ($449) is a solid offering that has a better camera and better software commitment.

If you’re looking for a decently powered phone with a good camera and a stylus, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra isn’t the only game in town anymore. It’s a much better game, but it’s not the only game. Stylus users tend to be pretty stuck to the stylus and the functionality it brings. This phone doesn’t do that. The stylus on this phone is great for accurate tapping, which is important, but if you’re in it for the extra stuff, you won’t find that here. It’s important to have the right expectations. But not only is this phone good for stylus users, but it’s also good for everyone else. Moreover, it has a good price attached to it. This is a solid recommendation for anyone who wants a good phone that won’t break the budget. The stylus is just a fun bonus in that case. Motorola is dominating in the budget space, and this phone can be a big part of why.

After reading this review you will understand that the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) is a great smartphone that offers decent camera quality, long-lasting battery life, impressive display, and robust performance. But the key attraction about this phone would be its dedicated stylus features from which you can draw several things on the screen or take notes in a pretty hassle-free manner. Aside from this, the clean UI does give an astounding user experience in the long run. However, this phone has limited features compared to the competition. If we have to recommend this phone to you, we only advise you to wait till the price goes down slightly. But, if you are not interested in the stylus phone, then we recommend checking out the Samsung Galaxy A33 to gain attractive and all-rounder specs. Still, it’s your hard earn money, so choose wisely where you want to invest your money.

Overall, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) addresses most of our complaints with the previous model. It's got a faster new chipset, streamlined cameras, an NFC chip, and a 120Hz display. My personal experience with the phone has been great as well: there were no issues and it happily fulfilled all my needs without much overthinking. Surely, the camera experience hasn't been excellent, and I'd have loved to see an OLED display, but it is what it is. There are downsides, however: the stylus hasn't become more useful than before, and the price has grown by $50, placing it dangerously close to competitors that might certainly give it a run for the money. Provided that you don't necessarily need a stylus, you might generally be happier with a Samsung or a Google phone, of which there are at least a few in the same price range.

If you’re looking for a mid-tier smartphone with a stylus, sure. For the price, the Moto G Stylus 5G has very few, if any, deal breakers, with the poor sound quality and bulky bezels representing slight annoyances at worst and barely noticeable quirks at best. The easy-to-use fingerprint sensor, the solid enough camera, intuitive features, and sturdy design make the Moto G Stylus 5G a solid option, and the advanced perks like the 120Hz refresh rate and the excellent stylus features make you forget it’s even a mid-tier phone at all. All in all, Motorola has surprised us here with the Moto G Stylus 5G, bringing us a phone that covers the fundamentals and adds a bit of flare to make for a pretty good smartphone.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G ($499) meets expectations in just about every category, as long as those expectations are tempered by its midrange stature. It packs solid internal hardware, a long-lasting battery, fast 5G connectivity, and a built-in stylus. If you can make peace with its lackluster software upgrade policy and unremarkable cameras, it's worth a look, particularly because of its status as an affordable alternative to the S Pen-toting Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. If you aren't sold on the stylus, the Google Pixel 5a, the upcoming Pixel 6a, and the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G are strong alternatives. And if you aren't committed to Android, the iPhone SE ($429) remains an excellent value.

Me? I’d be inclined to pay the extra, get 5G support, better overall performance, more storage, and better connectivity. Again, this IS NOT a Galaxy S22 killer, but for a mid-range phone, it is very easy to like the Moto G Stylus 5G 2022. The design is nice enough, it comes with a very impressive stylus, and it has reams of storage, as well as SD support and a headphone jack. Given the choice, though, I still think Samsung’s Galaxy A53 or A72 are better overall options (and they’re more or less the same price). At the end of the day, if you want a stylus with your phone, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, the Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 is one of the only halfway decent options on the market. If you go the Samsung route to get a stylus, you’ll pay considerably more money. But again, for that extra dollar, you will be getting a significantly better phone too.

I've been pretty hard on Motorola over the past year, but it seems like the company is finally starting to get its act together. The Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) is a surprisingly good mid-range phone that offers excellent performance and even better battery life. Frankly, I'm still surprised at just how much I enjoy using this phone. Motorola still has a few lessons to learn, particularly when it comes to the longevity of its smartphones. It's disappointing that the company insists on promising just one major OS upgrade with its sub-flagship phones, given how popular they've become in even the U.S. market. However, this phone shows that the company's stance on updates is slowly changing for the better, and at least you can rest easy for the next few years knowing that the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) will be secure. Overall, I'm impressed enough with this phone that I would easily recommend it to friends or family. For me, that's saying quite a lot.

The Moto G Stylus 5G is a fantastic phone if you're looking for a device with stylus support, that also has a decent, not great, camera setup and exceptional battery life. But if you don't need a digital pen built into your phone, then you're better off either waiting for Google's Pixel 6a or any one of these budget-friendly phones.

Despite the improvements, the similarities between these phones leaves the $499 price point of the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) feeling a little high. You can save yourself quite a bit by going with the 2022 LTE-only G Stylus ($299), or get many of the same features from the 2021 G Stylus 5G ($399) for $200 less. These deliver on basics such as battery life and software experience. You could also wait to see what carriers charge for the 6GB/128GB variant of the G Stylus 5G when it goes on sale later this year. Then there are the real competitors. The Google Pixel 5a ($449) is a solid offering that has a better camera and better software commitment,

The Moto G Stylus (2022) is at a weird crossroads in its life. The Moto G Stylus 5G is a much better phone that’s still within touching distance price-wise, and there are only moderate improvements over the previous 4G LTE model. The larger battery is nice, but it’s held back by weak 10W charging. Motorola boosted the base RAM, but the processor, while solid enough, is technically a step down from its direct predecessor. The 90Hz refresh rate is a nice addition to an already decent display, but this is another budget phone from Motorola with no NFC and a poor software guarantee. What we’re left with at the end of all this is a weird sidestep where the welcome upgrades are canceled out by questionable downgrades and legacy issues. Motorola's Moto G Stylus 5G has everything you want from a sub-$500 phone at first glance. At $500 (which roughly converts to £320 and AU$560) it has higher-end features normally found on more expensive phones, including a 6.8-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 50-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. You also get a built-in stylus, a feature that Samsung is now only providing for its luxe $1,200 Galaxy S22 Ultra. The phone has great battery life to boot. It all sounds great for the money, but there are some important details to keep in mind if you go with this phone. Motorola sells the Stylus 5G unlocked with a roomy 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. It also includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chip, which is generally more powerful than the MediaTek one included in the $300 4G-only Moto G Stylus from earlier this year. Its 5G support includes sub-6 and C-band frequencies. A Verizon version will also support millimeter-wave 5G.

If you want a phone with a stylus that keeps up with demanding tasks and camera quality isn’t a priority, then the G Stylus 5G is a compelling option. Not everyone needs the power of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and the Moto G Stylus 5G stands up as a much less expensive alternative with healthy performance. The LTE-only Moto G Stylus is an even lower cost option at $279, which is a good option if your budget is tight. But if you can spare the extra $200-plus, the 5G model is a worthwhile upgrade for its faster performance. It’s not a phone I’d recommend as an all-around pick in its price range, though. If you’re not a stylus devotee, then the Galaxy A53 5G is altogether a better package. Its 120Hz OLED screen is nicer, camera quality is better and more consistent, and it’s scheduled to get five years of security updates. You don’t get as much storage or RAM, but it’s also $50 cheaper. With LG out of the mobile phone market, we’re down to just two manufacturers making stylus phones. The S22 Ultra sits much, much higher and is worth its high price if you’re looking for a stylus and the best of the best.

I haven’t disliked a phone this much in a very long time. The Moto G Stylus (2022) is a huge disappointment and greatly overpriced. Even if the hardware was up to par, the shoddy update schedule for the phone would make it very difficult for me to recommend. As it stands, given the mediocre cameras and poor performance, I like very little about this device. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G, while far from perfect, is an infinitely better experience in most regards. (Though OnePlus’ Nord N update strategy isn’t that great, either.) If you’re on a very tight budget, then I recommend going with OnePlus. The stylus isn’t worth it. Of course, if you can save up an extra $150 — which is a stretch for some people, admittedly — I think the Pixel 5a is what you should set your sights on, unless you’d rather wait for the Pixel 6a which might be coming soon. However, $150 is a lot of money, which is why I recommend the $239 OnePlus Nord N200 5G. Save yourself the headache here, unless you absolutely must have a stylus. If that’s the case, don’t let me stop you.

The Moto G Stylus is a very interesting phone. It's the perfect affordable alternative for consumers who don't want to spend $1,200 on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra but seek the benefits of a stylus. At $299, the Moto is priced just right and offers a balanced, value-driven experience. Deciding on the device is not as this-or-that as it seems, though. This year's model lacks 5G support -- which has become a popular value proposition for budget shoppers, has a downgraded speaker system, and Motorola's track record for software updates leaves something to be desired. If the future-proofing nature of 5G and stylus support are must-haves for you, I'd recommend last year's Moto G Stylus 5G (2021) or holding out for Motorola to release the successor to that model. If you can do without a stylus, there are still plenty of cheap 5G phones available to shop from.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus (2022) has an all-rounded package that is hard to come by for under $300 unless you consider Chinese smartphones, which have issues of their own. Overall, you get a phone that gets the job done at an affordable rate. You get a great display to watch movies and TV series, and you also get a decent camera to take some quick shots. The battery is also great, so you can do anything you want with the smartphone before need to charge again. So, if all these features are enough for you, you may check out the Motorola G Stylus (2022) smartphone at the nearest store or order online. The low side of this device is the no 5G support, no custom UI, average processing speed, no fast charging, and average camera performance. If these low-end specs bother you, you should definitely check out the Xiaomi Redmi 10 (2022) or Moto Edge X30 however, the final decision is up to you as per your requirements.

Ultimately, you're getting a lot for how little you're paying for the newest Moto G Stylus. We're seeing an influx of well-rounded, more-than-enough smartphones in this sub-$500 price range that I can easily recommend three to four picks that were released within the past three months alone. And within that list, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) -- I promise this will be the last time I type the full name out -- sits at the top if you're shopping for a phone for less than $400.

With the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023), the company is committing to the usual one OS version upgrade (from Android 13 to Android 14) and three years of security support. That's a tier below what Samsung and Google offer for their mid-rangers, but if access to the latest software features and a year or two less of security patches means little to you, then I digress. If you need a good smartphone that will put a nearly unnoticeable dent in your budget, the Motorola G Stylus is it. At $200, you’re going to have a hard time finding a more affordable device that still holds its own as far as functionality is concerned. The body doesn’t feel cheap, the specs are in line with more expensive phones, and the stylus experience from Motorola continues to be one of the best. Yes, the display isn’t perfect but the refresh rate kind of makes up for it, the camera will get the job done, but not much else, and the battery life will easily get you through a day or two, but it’s not as good as the Moto G Power, obviously. If you have a bit more money, we’d urge you to explore some other options, but if $200 is your cutoff, there’s a lot to like about the Moto G Stylus.

I really want to like your new Moto G Stylus 5G. And I do, on a lot of levels. It has a lot for $399: plenty of storage, 6GB of RAM, a good Snapdragon processor, even a charger and a headphone jack! Who even does that anymore? But the G Stylus suffers from one serious problem I can’t get over: bloatware. Bloatware is littered throughout the software and onboarding experience. As you set up the phone and go about arranging your homescreen, you will meet multiple prompts to download more apps. Apps, apps, apps. Have you tried apps? Do you like ‘em? Download more of them! There are the so-called “folders.” They’re named innocuous things like “entertainment” and “shopping.” That’s thoughtful to automatically sort your streaming apps into one place, right? But why does it show an icon for an app you’ve never downloaded? Tap on the folder, and that’s when you’ll find out: it’s not really a folder at all. It is, in fact, an app itself.

Fighting in a somewhat crowded arena, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) is in a tough position because while it does capture attention for its affordable cost, there are better phones available for just a little bit more. There’s also the concern about how long your investment would last here, mainly because Motorola doesn’t offer the same software support that other Android makers offer with their devices. Yes, you could just live with Android 13 (or Android 14 when it’s made available) for an indefinite period of time, but the more pressing matter are those security updates. Three years isn’t a whole lot, so once that’s up, you may be opening yourself to potential hurdles that could compromise the phone’s security.

The entire experience of using the stylus on the Moto G Stylus 5G is both well thought out and intuitive, making it easily the best reason to opt for this phone over any other in its price range. The 120Hz screen is also compelling, but it’s mostly there to power the writing experience; its usefulness for gaming is hampered a bit by the lower-specced Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip. Even if you’re not entirely sold on the idea of a stylus, the Moto G Stylus 5G is worth a serious look for anybody who does a lot of sketching or note-taking on their phone. The stylus isn’t a mandatory feature — it stays nicely tucked out of the way and can be safely ignored when you don’t need it — but it is by far the best reason to opt for the Moto G Stylus 5G over other phones in this price range. You’ll likely find it extremely handy if you’re the sort of person who is always reaching for a pen and notepad.

Motorola has had a tough couple of years, but it’s riding high in 2023 with a fantastic flagship phone and stunning foldables. It’s budget phones in the G series that kept Moto going through it all, though, and there are new releases there as well. The 2023 model of the Moto G Stylus 5G starts with the established Moto G formula, upgrades a few specs, and slots in a stylus. The result is a solid phone for doodling and note-taking at a much lower price than Samsung’s stylus-equipped phones. However, the shadow of the very best cheap phones — especially the Pixel 7a — looms large over Moto’s most premium G phone. The latest Moto G Stylus 5G looks almost identical to the non-5G version of the phone, but it gets a few notable upgrades that make it a much better device.

If you are looking for an affordable Android phone that has an integrated stylus and is actually decent in terms of performance, then the Moto G Stylus 5G fits the bill. It’s one of the few Android phones out there with a stylus, and it’s much more affordable than something like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I was afraid that the Moto G Stylus 5G wasn’t going to be good, considering my only other experience with a Moto G phone was the Moto G Play (2023), which I only gave a 4/10 rating. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far with the Moto G Stylus 5G. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip gives a respectable performance, the 6.6-inch LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate actually looks good, and the massive battery easily gets you through an entire day without worrying about plugging in. And as long as you’re in well-lit environments, the cameras are pretty good. Plus, it’s compatible with 5G networks.

After being pretty impressed by last year's Moto G Stylus 5G (2022), I wasn't sure how or if Motorola would top its best mid-range smartphone. Thankfully, a combination of good design and a much-improved Snapdragon chipset has made this one of the best cheap Android phones money can buy. Sure, you won't get the picture quality of a Pixel phone or the software support of a Galaxy, but Motorola brings a lot to the table with performance and audio that could rival even some higher-end devices. Not to mention the novelty of a built-in pen, no matter how basic it is, still makes this a compelling choice, even if it means you miss out on those Pixel-exclusive features. For a phone on the higher end of Motorola's midrange, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) is still cheaper than much of the competition, and it punches above its weight class. I would have no problem recommending this phone to anyone.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G meets expectations but doesn’t do much to exceed them. It packs solid specs, a long-lasting battery, and a built-in stylus. It’s a fine option if you’re looking for an affordable device with a stylus, as long as the underwhelming software-upgrade roadmap and middling cameras don’t bother you. If you’re not dead-set on a stylus, however, we recommend spending $50 more on the Editors’ Choice-winning Pixel 7a for its superior cameras, cleaner Google software, and better upgrade path.

Despite my reservations about using a phone powered by a non-5G MediaTek Helio chipset, the Moto G Stylus (2023) is a surprisingly decent phone for its class. No, you can't expect much from any cheap Android phone under $200, and the Moto G Stylus (2023) definitely comes with its fair share of shortcomings. No 5G connectivity may be a deal-breaker for some, but the phone does not seem to struggle with its LTE connection, which is more than I can say for my 5G phones when they switch to LTE. Gaming performance is also not the best, but you also should not rely on a $200 phone for gaming... you'll want to splurge for something better. The Moto G Stylus (2023) presents you with the basics and does it fairly well while adding the extra benefit of having a built-in stylus to go with it. Whether or not you'll find that stylus useful is up to you, but it's never a bad thing to have. All in all, if you want a basic smartphone with basic connectivity and basic performance at a basic price point, the Moto G Stylus (2023) isn't the worst phone you can go with.

Are you a disciplined notetaker that doesn't see much value in mobile gaming, video streaming, powerful phone photography, or modern 5G connection? Shaving off so many critical features in lieu of a stylus makes this phone a tough sell for quite a few consumers, but the feature will appeal to a niche few. On the other hand, if you're a busy professional that wants a workhorse phone which will last five years, the Moto G Stylus' short support schedule again takes this phone out of the running for you. The Moto G Stylus 2023 is a good phone, and certainly provides a little beefing up to last winter's release, the Moto G Play, which offers a weaker processor and less RAM. For all the testing I put the phone through, it ran as expected. I didn't feel hindered when trying to execute any one task or application. So while the Moto G Stylus is a perfectly fine phone in the short-term, keep an eye on the short-term update schedule, lack of 5G connectivity, and less-than-perfect set of cameras.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 2023 doesn’t provide anything out of the box, except the Stylus support. Aside from this, you won’t get any special selling points for this smartphone. But, the phone got a legacy since it features a stylus pen. But for instance, if we remove the pen aspect of this phone, it is just a regular entry-level phone with average specs and features. We will only recommend purchasing this phone if you prefer a clean UI experience and like to doodle or draw. Aside from this, you can check out other options like Realme 10T 5G, which will render almost everything you can expect from the budget-friendly mid-range phone.

Overall, the Motorola Moto G Stylus (2023) is a case of a couple of steps forward with several steps back, with the most evident cost-cutting measures hitting the cameras. Personally, I wouldn’t take a weaker processor, less memory and storage, a lower resolution display, and only one good camera on the rear in order to save $100. But here’s the biggest kicker; you actually wouldn’t be saving money, since you can frequently grab the LTE version of Moto G Stylus (2022) ($169.99 at Amazon) for around $170 on sale — $30 less than the “cheaper” new model. The Moto G Stylus (2023)'s predecessor offers more bang for the buck, as do competitors in this price range. Still, the lighter matte design and smaller size lend themselves better to this iteration of the Moto G Stylus, which is still the most affordable option for a smartphone with a built-in stylus at MSRP.

I started using personal digital assistant (PDA) devices that all had a stylus in 1997, and I am still a fan of using such an accessory that provides precision inputs and on-device handwriting. The Moto G Stylus 5G is an affordable option for stylus lovers while also serving as a very capable Android phone. The Motorola user interface remains one of my favorites since it is optimized for efficient use and doesn't rely as heavily on AI to help you get things done.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 2024 might have the average hardware configuration with mediocre camera results. However, it doesn’t mean that the phone lacks when it comes to the near-stock interface, impressive display, and long-lasting battery configuration. Yet, we won’t hide the fact that video recording of this phone isn’t worth noting. But if you are considering buying a decent phone with a stylus, then you should consider getting the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2024. But if the stylus isn’t the top priority, we happily recommend Nothing Phone 2a as an alternative smartphone. It offers aesthetic looks and cool features. Our job ends here, but we suggest you to choose any phone that meets your requirements.

Motorola's Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) is one of the few smartphones with a built-in stylus offered in North America. For a $399 device, it offers a ton of premium features such as a great OLED screen, a likable design, promising cameras on both sides, a large battery, and loud stereo speakers.

The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) is a lovely smartphone positioned into a competition-free niche. The new Moto G Sylus impressed us with a beautiful and grippy body, one very bright OLED, very good battery life, speaker loudness, camera quality, and clean and fast Android OS and Moto perks. The performance is quite adequate, too. The Stylus is the key selling point here, and it does a solid job. It features all the basic functions a stylus-packing phone should have, and they work as advertised. And that's plenty enough. Of course, the Moto G Stylus 5G is not the perfect smartphone. Its charging speed is not that fast, and there is no charger in the box. We expected a real ingress protection rating, not some vague water-repellent design description.

The Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) is not a bad phone. It has many great things going for it such as the bright and beautiful display, pretty good main and front-facing cameras, and some of the longest lasting battery you will find in this segment and in general. However, despite all of its benefits, I cannot overlook the fact that you only get 1 year of Android updates. I also don't like that Motorola tries to push bloatware onto the user. There's also that mediocre chipset performance, which is even more apparent when you compare it to the main competition. Speaking of competition, Google and Samsung simply offer more for your money. Yeah, the Pixel 8a costs $100 more, but you get 7 years of Android updates and a flagship-level processor inside!

It's worth reiterating that, for $400, everything good I outlined above — the display, the design, the excellent battery life — is pretty great for the money. If you're looking for a stylus-equipped phone that isn'tSamsung's $1,300 Galaxy S24 Ultra and you're willing to put up with all of the drawbacks that come with this sort of budget-focused Android experience, I think it's a perfectly good-enough value buy. But there are some fundamental flaws that keep this from being the entry-level smartphone to get. More than any other recent G-series device, I think the Moto G Stylus 5G really cements just how close Motorola is to getting smartphones right.

To say that my time with the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 was surprising is a bit of an understatement. My daily driver is usually a flagship Motorola or Samsung phone, but while I used the Stylus 5G, I found myself forgetting that this isn't a flagship phone. Performance is superb, the cameras are much better than I expected, and the software is a nice step up from previous versions. Aside from the annoying Glance lock screen that you can fortunately turn off, the biggest downside is perhaps the software promise, which still pales in comparison to Samsung. I would love to see Motorola change this up and offer even two OS upgrades for its Moto G lineup. It's also a shame that the marquee feature on the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 is losing its appeal. The redesign is nice, but I don't find the stylus particularly useful in its current iteration.

There are an awful lot of options for affordable smartphones out there. But I think Motorola has done a really good job here at separating itself apart from the competition in most cases. For $399 the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 is a very good setup. That being said, there are other really good options that are close to its price point. The Pixel 8a is $499. The OnePlus 12R is $499, and both of these are excellent. If you’re ok with spending $399, then you might be ok with spending $499. If that’s the case, then the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 could be a hard sell. However, the Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 has a lot going for it, and I think this review shows that. It’s fun to use, has some great features, and it looks really good. Those are all great reasons to buy this phone. It also comes universally unlocked so it should work on essentially any carrier in the US. While it has a few faults I’d like to see improved, I think overall it’s a solid choice in the $399 price range.

Compared to other Moto G releases this year, the Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) is a slam dunk. It has a nice design, a quality OLED display, solid performance, a surprisingly decent main camera, excellent battery life, and good charging options. To get all of that at just $400 — and presumably even less during sales/promotions, which Motorola frequently runs — is a damn good offer. Of course, there’s the issue of competition. Whether it’s the Galaxy A35, the Pixel 8a, or the OnePlus 12R, the fact is that you can spend the same amount or a little bit more money on really good alternatives. It’s also difficult to give Motorola a pass for the ads, bloatware, and limited software support. These are all things Motorola could very easily address, and the longer it doesn’t, the worse of a position it puts Motorola’s budget phones in.

Without a personal frame of reference with other modern Android phones I can't say whether or not the 2024 Moto G Stylus 5G is on par, better, or worse. But comparing it to a 2020 iPhone 12 Pro has been a bit of a surprise. To be honest, I don't really have much to complain about. All of my hardware nitpicks are, well, nitpicks and neither the disappointing magnetic connection for wireless charging or serviceable (but not incredible) built-in microphone quality make any real difference in my eyes. Any legitimate frustrations I've dealt with are all tied into the Android operating system itself — which both isn't the phone's fault and has more to do with my own unfamiliarity and growing pains. Even the $399.99 price tag has me second-guessing myself in regards to my phone choices.

While the Moto G Stylus 5G probably isn’t going to wow anyone with its imaging, it does have a lot going for it overall. The display looks great, and performance is good for a mid-range phone that errs on the cheaper side. It’ll also run for a few days per charge, and the battery fills much faster than other phones in this price range. And there’s a stylus. Demand for that particular feature might not be widespread, but Motorola is alone in offering it for anything approaching a reasonable price. If you don’t think you’ll use the stylus, though, you’ll be better off with a different phone. And if you can afford another $100, the Pixel 8a is faster, has far superior cameras, AI-powered exclusive features, and will get updates for many more years.

If you’re looking for an affordable phone with a stylus, the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G is your best bet. In addition to a built-in stylus, it offers outstanding battery life, a large, bright screen, and acceptable performance for less than $400. Its lackluster cameras and short software support window, however, mean that most people should get the $500 Google Pixel 8a instead. Thanks to its faster overall performance, more durable build, better imaging chops, and superior software support, the Pixel 8a remains our Editors' Choice winner for midrange Android phones.

The Moto G Stylus is clearly the best of the Moto G series, packing in features like a 120Hz display, a stylish design and a long battery life that make sure you get your money's worth. The brighter display on this model addresses one of our biggest complaints with past versions, and the stylus — while a bit of a gimmick for a feature that's part of this phone's name — can be useful for note-takers who don't want or can't afford the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Motorola is great at making affordable phones with tons of value, but the new Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 is the most impressive mid-range phone I've ever tested from the company. With flagship characteristics like a 120Hz OLED display, wireless charging, a vegan leather back, and impressive performance, this phone feels like it should cost much more than it does.

Qualcomm Adreno 612:
Scheda grafica integrata (nello Snapdragon 675) basata sull'architettura Adreno 600.
