Quindi, per riassumere: le prestazioni sono ai vertici, l’autonomia è eccezionale come la trasportabilità, c’è una buona dotazione di porte e la tastiera è molto comoda. Forse il display potrebbe essere un pochino più prestigioso, lo stesso vale per la webcam e sarebbe carino avere la possibilità di caricare il laptop da entrambi i lati (= una USB-C per parte), ma sono gli unici aspetti leggermente sottotono di un computer altrimenti molto, molto convincente. Per chi deve lavorare in mobilità ci sembra una scelta decisamente più sensata di quei laptop ipersottili che richiedono troppi compromessi (porte e batteria prima di tutto). I processori Raptor Lake si riconfermano tra i prodotti meglio riusciti a Intel degli ultimi anni. La configurazione testata si trova online a un prezzo di 1.700€ circa; i suoi rivali principali potrebbero essere LG Gram (che da noi arriva solo da 16" e per ora c'è solo con i chip di precedente generazione), Samsung Galaxy Book3 (che però è più caro e la batteria è ancora un'incognita), Dell XPS 13 (buon prezzo, ma chip ancora di precedente generazione e pochissime porte), lenovo Yoga 7/ThinkPad X1 Carbon (più cari, meno porte, chip last gen). Al momento, insomma, è difficile fare paragoni diretti perché i chip di nuova generazione sono ancora decisamente rari, e come abbiamo visto rappresentano un passo avanti concreto sia per la potenza sia per l'autonomia. Detto questo, a nostro avviso MSI ha centrato una buona combinazione di specifiche e prezzo, puntando al sodo e valorizzando ciò che conta davvero in un laptop che, dopotutto, è nato per lavorare.

The MSI Prestige 13 Evo (2023) is one of the most exciting productivity laptops so far this year, but that might be because it shows what MSI is capable of rather than staking its claim as one of the best laptops with a thin-and-light design. If MSI could stick an OLED in this machine and fix the webcam woes, there is nothing standing in its way. It has some of the best productivity performance among its rivals and dodges fan noises better than most. Battery life is impressive too. However, with a starting price in line with higher quality competition, at $1499/£1499, it falls short of being one of the best around. The MSI Prestige 13 Evo A13M offers a lot for the price, especially when it comes to the performance and battery life, but MSI couldn’t stay on top of everything. The Prestige 13 falters when it comes to sporting a colorful panel, well-rounded speakers, and a competitive SSD. If you’re looking for any of the aforementioned features, we recommend picking up the Acer Swift 14, which impressed the hell out of us. Otherwise, if you want to stick to the lighter and smaller 13-inch form factor, the MSI Prestige 13 Evo is a good choice.

The MSI Prestige 13 EVO is by no means a bad laptop—in fact, its phenomenal trackpad, well-built body, and snappy processor made it a joy to use. Also, this thing weighs about two pounds, making it an excellent device for those who desperately need to get the smallest and lightest gear possible. It’s not at the top of its class, but it’s still a great experience and worth considering if you find it on sale. Its $1,500 price tag is mainly what bumps this laptop from a solid recommendation down to a maybe. Its chassis has the build quality to back up the price, but the 1080p display doesn’t cut it when most laptops over $1,000 have 2K or 4K displays (even OLED). The short battery life also hurts it, considering how much MSI marketed this laptop for travel and portability.

As for consumers, you won't be able to help but eye two Editors' Choice winners from HP with more dazzling OLED displays.
