Prezzo basso, prestazioni gaming high-end.

We’ve already said that the most impressive feature of Y50 is its looks, which, besides representing aggressive design, contributes to the low weight ( for a gaming computer), combined with a slim body. Although the latter does not seem in favor of high frequencies for computing load, the video card holds up well and was able to work at maximum speed for a very long period of time. The screen, with its 282 pixels per inch and 4K resolution, is a big plus if you play light games, but not particularly great if you love the latest titles with heavy graphics. In the latter case, of course, you can simply reduce the resolution, but your heart will hardly allow this, given that you stand before an Ultra HD display.

Save for the screen and somewhat limited computing horsepower, the Lenovo Y50 is a very good package for its $1,519 or £999 (about AU$1,631) price tag. In a field of laptops that focus on filling out an internal spec sheet and stuffing it into a flimsy plastic chassis, the Lenovo Y50 is a breath of fresh air in good design. However, self-ascribed "hardcore" gamers that want a bit more oomph from their total desktop replacement should consider the $1,999 Gigabyte P35W v2. The GTX 870M-backed machine will simply run games better regardless, and it packs better battery battery life too boot.

The Lenovo Y50 delivers a lot of gaming oomph for a relatively inexpensive $1,249. You'll be able to play most titles at smooth frame rates in a handsome and portable 5.4-pound chassis. I also like that this rig delivers more battery life than other gaming notebooks in its class, It's just too bad that the screen on our configuration didn't wow as much as the other specs.

Lenovo's Y50 Touch is a well balanced system that is equally at home when used as a gaming system or as a general purpose performance system. The styling is agressive but not over the top like some gaming laptops on the market. The size and weight are quite good given the level of performance that it has. One downside for some is that it no longer features a DVD drive like past Y series laptops.

Th Lenovo Y50 is a good machine. You get a good looking model, with low noise cooling system, very good GTX 860M gaming performance which is the best for $1000 currenty. You also get very good speakers – probably the best for gaming laptops around $1000 and below. The touchpad is good and the build quality is high, even compared to the other gaming laptops.

There's nothing to dislike about the Y50 Touch, unless you're finicky about wanting the trackpad centered. It is solid from all angles, bringing with it a clean and mean design that makes no bones about what kind of performance can be expected. Unlike some other models, this laptop feels very solid and well-built, nary a creak of plastic to be found. This combination of design, construction, and performance means all your needs will be satisfied, and so the gamers among us can rest assured that the Y50 Touch is an all around solid choice.

Despite its flaws, the Lenovo Y50 is still an attractive budget gaming laptop and a considerable improvement for the Y series. Equipped with a fast Intel Core i7 CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVidia GeForce GTX 860M GPU, the laptop provides great overall performance capable of running just about every game on the market. The slimmer chassis design and longer battery life only make the laptop that much more desirable.

When you see that a notebook has a 3840 x 2160p display, you expect brilliant color with precise detail. But the view on the $1,499 Lenovo Y50-70 Touch is rather...meh. The laptop offers respectable mid-level performance with a rather elegant-looking chassis and a comfortable keyboard. Overall, the Y50-70 Touch can't hold a candle to better-equipped models that don't cost that much more.

Does the Y50 Touch make sense for you? If you absolutely must have touch, it’s a reasonable choice, provided you’re okay with the bothersome surface temperatures, you don’t mind the weak LCD performance, and you plan to replace the storage drive at some point. Otherwise, we’d recommend looking at the regular Y50 instead, or perhaps saving up a bit more dough and plunking it down on a full-blown high-end gaming machine

The design of the Lenovo Y50 is very edgy and definitely looks like a gaming laptop. The lid has brushed aluminum panels with a criss-cross pattern instead of the typical horizontal brushed look. While it is a desktop replacement, it only weighs 5.29-pounds, which is actually not the heaviest out there. It's also relatively thin too at 0.94-inches.

In terms of gaming performance, Lenovo’s Y50 is one of the best laptops in its class. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a portable gaming rig on a budget. Unfortunately, Lenovo compromised several key components—the keyboard, trackpad, and (most importantly) the display—in order to offer the Y50 at a mid-range price. Hook up a mouse, keyboard, and external display and you’ll have a solid gaming machine. If you can’t tolerate those compromises, you might have to bite the bullet and spend more money for a competitor’s offering.

The retail list price on this machine is $1,499, but you can find it at online retailers for around $1,200. However, even at that price, Lenovo is asking an awful lot from buyers for a system that isn’t going to please hardcore gamers and just doesn’t justify the price tag it requests from more mainstream users.

L'agonia della scelta. Dopo la nostra prima recensione della versione FHD del Notebook Gaming Lenovo Y50, ci andiamo a concentrare sulla versione con schermo UHD (3840x2160 pixels) e veloce SSD Samsung. Full HD e schermo opaco o Ultra HD e lucido? Questo è il dilemma. Andiamo a confrontare i due schermi.

The Lenovo Y50 Touch is a solid gaming laptop, with good performance and a reasonable price, but it's in a category where performance is often stellar and price is usually a secondary concern. For an off-the-shelf gaming laptop, it's as good as you'll find at your local retailer, and it comes in at half the price of the Razer Blade. Despite the price difference, the Razer Blade keeps its Editors' Choice designation thanks to better portability, longer battery live, and more gaming power.

The Lenovo Y50 Touch was, on paper, the answer to my search for the perfect gaming laptop. Not too big, not too small; just powerful enough; decent-looking; and with a touchscreen. It hits many of those marks, but the underwhelming overall screen quality is doubly disappointing, considering how close it comes on the other features.

Overall, the Y50 Touch is a good option for gamers, as long as you keep an eye on weekly specials and retailer prices and obtain it for a price in our test unit's $1,200 ballpark. It won't net you bragging rights, but it will let you play even the latest games with the details nicely cranked up—while leaving you some cash in your pocket to buy those games with.

The Lenovo Y50 is a monster. The discreet graphics, comfortable keyboard and insanely good speakers make it a gamer’s dream. Even music and video producers will find it nice. The screen disappoints though and the rat’s nest of add-on software make the out-of-box experience a bit rough.

Asking for a 4K display in a 15-inch laptop may be a bit of stretch, and we've only seen a couple of other examples to date. In this case, the included graphics card isn't up to the task of high-end UHD gaming, but you still get the benefit of a better-looking screen, plus touch for all those times when you're not playing a game (trust me, a touchscreen makes Windows 8 much more tolerable).

Both notebooks are very good, they have great screens, CPU and GPU performance. They both feature quality build and high specs, but have very different designs, both looking very good. With very similar specs the notebooks produced nearly identical results on our tests and benchmarks, even though Y50’s CPU has some throttling issues.

The Lenovo Y50 is a good-value gaming laptop, and a pretty aggressive competitor to other laptops in this class like the Acer V Nitro and the various MSI options around the price, including the GS20. Last year the Y50 was a bit of a dodgy option given its limited screen quality, but in the 2015 upgrade to IPS panels (for both the 1080p and 4K resolutions) and the bump from a GTX 860M to GTX 960M GPU (a slight but worthwhile upgrade) Lenovo has solved some, if not all, of its problems.

As expected, buying the more expensive notebook here, the Lenovo Y50, will bring you better performance and overall user experience due to the excellent build quality, design and superb sound. On the contrary, the GL552 excels in other important areas like screen quality and cooling system which is a big deal to consider when you add up the price tag. But keep in mind that the screen quality comes at a price as our tests indicate the presence of PWM (screen flickering) across all brightness levels except 100%. The same applies for the Lenovo Y50, but the frequency of the emitted light there is 21.6 kHz and can be considered way less harmful to your eyes.

We were pleased with the overall design of the machine giving a distinctive look, premium materials while maintaining low weight (2.4 kg) and slim profile (24.5 mm). However, this notebook has its own drawbacks like leaving easily smudges on the exterior and interior, the keyboard is lacking multimedia buttons and the touchpad design isn’t all that great. The cooling system is made with style, but fails to deliver the needed airflow for keeping the internals cool. You will easily notice the heat on the top side of the keyboard and we strongly recommend using an external cooling pad with airflow above 60 or 70 CFM. This will have a huge impact on the user experience.
