Intel Core i3-3227U

L'Intel Core i3-3227U è un processore ULV per portatili che si basa sull'architettura Ivy Bridge lanciato nel primo quadrimestre 2013. Grazie all'Hyperthreading, i due cores possono gestire fino ad quattro threads in parallelo con un conseguente miglior utilizzo della CPU. Ogni core offre una velocità base di 1.9 GHz, ma il Turbo Boost non è supportato. Come i suoi predecessori Sandy-Bridge-based, ha 3 MB di L3-Cache.

L'Ivy Bridge è un miglioramento tramite ridimensionamento dell'architettura Sandy Bridge con migliorie sia sulle prestazioni GPU che CPU. Le CPUs sono realizzate in 22nm (contro i 32nm delle CPUs Sandy Bridge) e sono le prime ad introdurre transistors 3D per l'incremento dell'efficienza energetica se si confrontano i processori Sandy Bridge con clock simile. Altre nuove features sono il PCI Express 3.0 ed il supporto DDR3(L)-1600.

Le prestazioni del Core i3-3227U sono leggermente superiori ad un processore Sandy Bridge con clock simile grazie ai piccoli miglioramenti dell'architettura. Pertanto, le prestazioni complessive dovrebbero essere simili al precedente Core i5-2467M.

La Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrata offre 16 Execution Units (EUs) con un clock da 350 MHz fino a 1100 MHz con il Turbo Boost, fornendo prestazioni paragonabili con una AMD Radeon HD 6620G.

Le CPUS ULV hanno un TDP di 17 W che include scheda grafica e controller di memoria. Pertanto, la CPU è adatta per piccoli portatili ed ultrabooks.
