Intel 3120M

L'Intel Core i3-3120M è un processore dual-core per portatili basato sull'architettura Ivy Bridge. Grazie all'Hyperthreading, i due cores possono gestire fino a quattro threads in parallelo con un conseguente miglior utilizzo della CPU. Ogni core offre una velocità base di 2.5 GHz, Non è supportato il Turbo Boost. Come il suo predecessore Sandy-Bridge-based, offre 3 MB di L3-Cache.

L'Ivy Bridge è una die shrink migliorata dell'architettura Sandy Bridge con miglioramenti sia sulle prestazioni GPU che CPU. Le CPUs sono prodotte in 22nm (contro i 32nm delle CPUs Sandy Bridge) e sono state le prime ad introdurre transistors 3D per incrementare l'efficienza energetica rispetto ai processori Sandy Bridge con clock simile. Altra novità è il supporto integrato per PCI Express 3.0 e DDR3(L)-1600.

Le prestazioni del Core i3-3120M sono leggermente superiori rispetto ai processori Sandy Bridge con clock simile grazie ai miglioramenti dell'architettura. Ne consegue che, le prestazioni complessive è di circa il 5 - 10 % più veloce rispetto alla vecchia i3-2370M. Grazie al loro Turbo Boost, i modelli Core-i5 come l'i5-3210M sono molto più veloci (10 - 25%).

L'Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrata offre 16 Execution Units (EUs) con clock da 650 MHz fino a 1100 MHz con il Turbo Boost. Pertanto, le prestazioni sono leggermente inferiori ad una AMD Radeon HD 6620G.

Proprio come la maggioranza degli altri dual-cores Ivy Bridge, l'i3-3120M ha un TDP da 35 W. Pertanto, anche i portatili più piccoli possono usare questo Core i3.
