Intel 2330M

L'Intel Core i3-2330M è un processore dual core per portatili. E' basato sull'architettura Sandy Bridge ed offre l'Hyperthreading per gestire 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline). Rispetto al più veloce Core i5, l'i3 non offre il Turbo Boost per la CPU ed ha di conseguenza un clock da 2.2 GHz (max). Rispetto al Core i3-2310M, il 2330M offre solo 100 MHz in più come core clock rate.

La Sandy Bridge è il successore evolutivo dell'architettura Arrandale. I miglioramenti principali sono le nuove istruzioni AVX 265Bit, il Turbo Boost 2.0 migliorato (non abilitato per la parte processore del 2330M) e l'integrazione della scheda grafica nel core della CPU da 32nm.

L'i3-2330M offre una scheda grafica integrata (Intel HD Graphics 3000) che è nettamente più veloce rispetto alla vecchia Intel HD Graphics delle CPUs Arrandale. Poiché la GPU è inclusa nella CPU, sono entrambe realizzate in 32nm e condivide la veloce level 3 cache con i cores della CPU (utilizzando un nuovo ring bus). Nella 2330M il clock varia tra 650-1100MHz (con Turbo Boost). Le più veloci CPUs Sandy Bridge CPUs hanno clock fino a 1300 MHz (come l'i5-2520M).

Inoltre, sulla die CPU è incluso un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3 die utilizzato sia dalla CPU che dalla GPU.

Grazie ai miglioramenti dell'architettura, le prestazioni medie del Core i7-2330M sono superiori rispetto ai Core i3 Arrandale con clock simile ma senza Turbo Boost. Nei synthetic benchmarks, le prestazioni risultano quasi alla pari con le Core i3-380M (2.5 GHz) con clock superiore e di conseguenza risulta adeguata per la maggior parte delle applicazioni.

I 35W TDP includono la CPU ed il controller di memoria.
