Intel 2328M

L'Intel Core i3-2328M è un processore dual-core per portatili. Si basa sull'architettura Sandy Bridge ed offre l'Hyperthreading per gestire 4 threads contemporaneamente (per un miglior utilizzo della pipeline). Rispetto al più veloce Core i5, l'i3 non ha il Turbo Boost per la parte CPU e di conseguenza ha un clock da 2.2 GHz (max). Rispetto al Core i3-2310M, la 2328M offre solo 100 MHz in più come core clock rate. La CPU è simile al Core i3-2330M, ma non supporta l'Intel Small Business Advantage tools, come l'USB blocker, il PC health check, il data backup ed il display wireless.

Il Sandy Bridge è l'evoluzione dell'architettura Arrendale. I principali miglioramenti sono le nuove istruzioni AVX 256Bit, il Turbo Boost 2.0 migliorato (non abilitato per parte dei processori 2348m) e l'integrazione della scheda grafica nel CPU core da 32 nm.

L'i3-2328M offre una scheda grafica integrata (Intel HD Graphics 3000) nettamente più veloce rispetto alla vecchia Intel HD Graphics delle CPUs Arrandale. Poiché la nuova GPU è inclusa nella CPU, anche questa è realizzata in 32nm e condivide la veloce level 3 cache con i cores della CPU (usando un nuovo ring bus). Nella 2328M ha un clock da 650-1100MHz (con il Turbo Boost). Le CPUs Sandy Bridge più veloci hanno un clock fino a 1300 MHz (come l'i5-2520M).

Inoltre, un controller di memoria dual-channel DDR3 migliorato è incluso sulla die della CPU usata sia da CPU che da GPU.

Grazie ai miglioramenti dell'architettura, le prestazioni medie del Core i3-2328M sono superiori rispetto ad una Arrandale Core i3 con clock simile senza Turbo Boost. Nei synthetic benchmarks, le performance sono alla pari con il Core i3-380M che ha un clock superiore (2.5 GHz) e pertanto è adeguata per la maggioranza delle applicazioni.

I 35W di TDP includono la GPU integrata ed il controller di memoria.
