L'Intel Core i5-9400F è un processore desktop a sei core basato sull'architettura Coffee Lake introdotto nell'ottobre 2018 insieme all'ammiraglia Intel Core i9-9900K. Il processore ha un clock di 2,9-4,1 GHz e può elaborare fino a 6 thread contemporaneamente. L'Intel Core i5-9400F è prodotto nel processo migliorato a 14-nm (14nm++).

Prestazioni

Rispetto all'Intel Core i5-8400, le prestazioni potrebbero essere aumentate solo leggermente. Ci si può aspettare un aumento delle prestazioni fino al 10%. Entrambi i processori (vecchi e nuovi) non offrono ancora l'hyperthreading. L'aumento delle prestazioni si aggiunge quindi solo a piccoli miglioramenti dell'architettura e a una frequenza di clock di base e turbo leggermente superiore. Questa CPU è adatta all'uso quotidiano in ufficio, che non richiede grandi raffreddatori a causa del basso calore disperso. Ma anche i giochi sono tra le aree di applicazione, perché nei giochi l'Intel Core i5-9400F batte chiaramente l'Intel Core i3-9100F. Qui i sei core stanno pagando nel frattempo. 

Unità grafica

L'Intel Core i5-9400F è un processore senza unità grafica integrata. Se apprezzate una iGPU, dovreste dare un'occhiata più da vicino all'Intel Core i5-9400, in quanto offre l'entry level Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Consumo energetico

Intel mette il TDP (Thermal Design Power) a 65 watt. Questo significa che non c'è bisogno di grandi sistemi di raffreddamento, il che permette anche l'installazione in alloggiamenti molto compatti.
