Intel N2920

L'Intel Celeron N2920 è un SoC quad-core ad efficienza energetica per portatili entry-level. Ha un clock da 1.86 - 2.0 GHz e fa parte della piattaforma Bay Trail-M. Grazie allo speciale processo ottimizzato da 22 nanometri low-power (P1271) con transistors tri-gate, le prestazioni e l'efficienza energetica sono migliorate significativamente rispetto alle precedenti CPUs Intel Atom.

Architettura

I cores si basano sulla nuova architettura Silvermont, che è un design out-of-order per la prima volta. L'incremento dell'utilizzo della pipeline e molte altre migliorie (branch prediction ottimizzata, incremento dei buffers, decoders migliorati) hanno aumentato le prestazioni per clock di circa il 50 percento. Allo stesso tempo, tuttavia, la feature Hyper-Threading della precedente generazione è stata rimossa. Altre importanti modifiche sono il supporto per il nuovo set di istruzioni come l'SSE 4.1 e 4.2 unitamente all'AES-NI (in base al modello).

Prestazioni

Grazie alle migliori prestazioni per clock ed ai 4 cores, il Celeron N2920 è molto più veloce rispetto ai precedenti Intel Atoms, i.e. l'N2800. In media, l'N2920 compete con l'APU AMDs Kabini A4-5000. Per la maggioranza di applicazioni quotidiane come Internet o Office le prestazioni sono adeguate, ma lo stesso discorso non vale per software molto complessi o giochi moderni.

Grafica

L'HD Graphics (Bay Trail) si basa sull'architettura Intel Gen7, che supporta il DirectX 11 e si trova anche sulla serie Ivy Bridge (i.e. HD Graphics 4000). Con solo 4 EUs (Execution Units) ed una velocità clock relativamente bassa da 844 MHz, la GPU è più lenta anche della HD Graphics (Ivy Bridge). Pertanto, solo i giochi più vecchi e meno pesanti gireranno in modo fluido. Rispetto alla HD Graphics del più lento Pentium N3510, l'N3520 ha un clock del 14 % più veloce (750 vs. 854 MHz).

Consumo energetico

L'intero SoC ha un TDP di 7.5 Watts 7.5 watts. Pertanto, il chip può essere usato per subnotebooks compatti e non richiede un raffreddamento eccessivo.
