Intel Atom Z3745
L'intel Atom Z3745 è un SoC quad-core ad efficienza energetica per tablets Windows ed Android. Ha un clock da 1.33 - 1.86 GHz e fa parte della piattaforma Bay Trail-T. Grazie all'ottimizzazione del processo low-power in 22 nanometri (P1271) con transistors tri-gate, prestazioni ed efficienza energetica sono nettamente migliorate rispetto al suo predecessore. Rispetto allo Z3740, lo Z3745 si basa sul nuovo stepping C0 ed offre una GPU con clock rate leggermente più alto.
I cores del processore si basano sulla nuova architettura Silvermont, che ha per la prima volta un design out-of-order. Il maggior utilizzo della pipeline e molti altri miglioramenti (migliore branch prediction, incremento dei buffers, decoders migliorati) hanno migliorato le prestazioni per clock di circa il 50%. Allo stesso tempo, tuttavia, la feature Hyper-Threading della precedente generazione è stata rimossa. Altre rilevanti modifiche sono il supporto per il nuovo set di istruzioni come SSE 4.1 e 4.2 ed anche AES-NI (in base al modello).
Grazie ai 4 cores CPU ed alle migliori prestazioni per clock, lo Z3745 è molto più veloce rispetto ai precedenti Intel Atoms, i.e. lo Z2760. In base al benchmark, lo Z3745 compete con le APUs Temash e Kabini come l'AMD A6-1450 e l'A4-5000. Per le applicazioni quotidiane come Internet o da ufficio le prestazioni sono adeguate, ma non per software molto complessi o giochi attuali.
L'HD Graphics (Bay Trail) si basa sull'architettura Intel Gen7, che supporta DirectX 11 e si trova anche sulle serie Ivy Bridge series (i.e.. HD Graphics 4000). Con appena 4 EUs (Execution Units) e ed una velocità clock relativamente bassa fino a 778 MHz, la GPU è anche più lenta della HD Graphics (Ivy Bridge) e paragonabile ad una Qualcomm Adreno 320 (che si trova sullo Snapdragon 600). Pertanto, solo i giochi datati o meno pesanti risulteranno fluidi. Tuttavia l'accelerazione video e la risoluzione del display fino a 2560 x 1600 pixels non sono un problema per il chip.
L'intero SoC ha un SDP da 2 watts, che equivale ad un TDP di meno di 4 watts. Pertanto, il chip può essere usato nei tablets con raffreddamento passivo.
