In conclusione, Pixel 4 ha una dotazione completa e sostanzialmente simile a quella del fratello maggiore, pur costando 100 euro in meno. Non è uno smartphone perfetto, ma quelle piccole pecche (ad esempio manca una porta infrarossi, il grandangolo, la possibilità di espandere la memoria ed il fingerprint) sono ben compensate da funzionalità all'avanguardia, killer feature ed un design che farebbe invidia anche al top-di-gamma del momento. Pensate ad esempio all'Active Edge, che permette di richiamare Google Assistant semplicemente "strizzando" il telefono, o alle Motion Sense per gestire il terminale con le gestures.

L'esperienza d'uso resta comunque tra le migliori possibili e chi vorrà passare ad uno smartphone di nuova generazione - che non sia troppo ingombrante - dovrà necessariamente considerare l'acquisto del Pixel 4, a mio avviso il migliore tra i top piccini di questo 2019. Apprezzo il display con sprint a 90Hz, adoro Snapdragon 855 che non esagera mai con i consumi e fornisce la maggior potenza possibile quando necessario.

759 e 859 euro il piccolo ma 64 GB senza espansione sono anacronistici, anche se il cloud foto e video dei Pixel è illimitato (ma cara Google non sempre c'è Internet). Il prezzo ci starebbe anche ma ci sono troppe limitazioni, mancanze. Il piccolo pecca di batteria, manca il grandangolo, il sensore di impronta, jack audio, memoria limitata. Sono tutte mancanze che il software fantastico in parte compensa, con un'usabilità quotidiana al top ma.. Mancano! E allora.. Io comprerei il Pixel 3A che rimane il mio preferito.

Even if the Pixel 6 isn't to your liking when it is announced, there are still plenty of other Pixel options for you to choose from that don't have the Pixel 4's shortcomings.

So, do I like the Pixel 4? Very much so. In fact, I can see myself possibly switching from iPhone for Google's newest smartphone. I absolutely adore the smaller size compared to the XL variant -- I suggest holding both before deciding. The 5.7-inch screen is plenty big and doesn't feel bulky in my pocket. Truly, I wouldn't want a phone bigger than this.

If you want the best possible experience from Google, upgrading is a no-brainer. Right now, I’m not convinced that the Pixel 4 is that experience mainly because I’ve not tried much else in the past few years. I’ve had OnePlus phones, but never really given them a shot. I’ve not owned a Samsung phone in at least 5 years, and companies like Motorola and LG haven’t been on the radar for a very long time for me. For me this year, I think I’m going to try a few new things to see what’s out there and stretch my legs a bit. Who knows: I may come running back to Pixel. But I might not, either. I’m afraid that the Pixel 4 is just not the upgrade the majority of user are going to rush out to get their hands on this year. Me included.

Night Mode has also been improved, with the promise that if you keep the phone steady (but not necessarily on a tripod), you can get detailed photos of the night sky. La maggior parte dei giochi attuali può essere giocata in modo fluido. Ma preparatevi ad una riduzione delle presentazioni grafiche considerando le impostazioni di dettaglio basse e la risoluzione limitata. Tuttavia, queste schede forniscono ancora abbastanza potenza per le applicazioni da ufficio e la proiezioni di video (ma non per i video HD).

SD 855: SoC di fascia alta per smartphone che è stato introdotto alla fine del 2018 e prodotto in 7 nm al TSMC. Integra un "Prime Core" basato su un'architettura ARM Cortex-A76 modificata con clock fino a 2,84 GHz. Altri tre core di prestazioni sono anch'essi basati sull'A76 ma con clock fino a 2,42 GHz. Inoltre, sono integrati quattro core a risparmio energetico basati sull'architettura ARM Cortex-A55 con clock fino a 1,8 GHz. Oltre ai core del processore, il SoC integra un modem X24 LTE (fino a 2 Gigbit download), un nuovo modem Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6 ready, 60 GHz mmWave), Hexagon 690 DSP con nuovi core Tensor per l'elaborazione AI, uno Spectra 380 ISP con un motore di visione computerizzata integrato e un controller di memoria LPDDR4x integrato.
