Unboxing Asus' Zenbook S16 (2024), an impressively skinny 16-inch laptop boasting AMD Strix Point smarts and a gorgeous OLED display. This fresh performance notebook is about as compact as a 16-incher could possibly be, but the Zenbook S16 certainly doesn't skimp on performance or battery life. This is a pre-production sample so I can't benchmark or test the gaming chops properly, but here's an idea of what to expect from the retail model. Full review hopefully soon! Creators will enjoy the colour accurate OLED screen on the Asus Zenbook S16, as well as that AMD Strix Point power. You've also got an excellent keyboard and some nifty AI features, ideal for video chatting and security purposes.

EN→ITWhile there’s no question that the ZenBook S 16 is one of the slimmest and lightest 16-inch laptops on the market, we’re unsure about its real-life performance and its implementation of AI workflows. Everything looks good on paper so far–but things may change when it comes to real-life use. There’s also a concern regarding pricing: the starting price of the ZenBook S 16 is $1399 or around Php 83k converted–but that’s for the lower-end version with a Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, 24GB RAM, and 1 TB storage. We’ll not be surprised if the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 hits the six-digit mark, but we hope ASUS gives it a competitive price once it arrives in the Philippines.

Most notably, the computer company revealed a major expansion to its popular Zenbook range, with both an S 14 and S 16 model on the way. Following Microsoft’s recent Copilot+ PC push with Qualcomm, Asus revealed its Snapdragon-powered Vivobook S 15. It’s the brand’s first device that’ll gain access to new features like Recall from the outset. Meanwhile, Asus’ AMD and Intel laptops will gain Copilot+ functionality via a free post-launch update.

EN→ITAI might be the mot du jour at Computex 2024 (and every other launch event), but when it comes to producing a high-quality laptop, it’s the engineering that matters and, in this respect, the Asus Zenbook S 16 looks to have it nailed. We’ll have to see how the new AMD chips stack up when it comes to performance and battery life, but physically at least, this laptop hits the sweet spot. It has a large, practical display; it’s light and slim, yet stiff and robust feeling; and it looks the absolute business. I can’t wait to get one in for testing.

AMD Radeon 890M: Una potente iGPU con architettura RDNA 3+ che ha debuttato nel giugno 2024.
Queste schede grafiche dovrebbero essere in grado di far funzionare tutti i giochi attuali con un framerates fluido ma rinunciando al livello di dettaglio massimo. Specialmente i giochi impegnativi come Crysis, Age of Conan, o Mass Effect sono utilizzabili soltanto con impostazioni grafiche ridotte. I giochi meno pesanti (e più datati), come Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, o Battlefield 2142 possono essere giocati con livello di dettagli più alto.

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: Un potente chip della famiglia Strix Point che dovrebbe debuttare a giugno 2024. Si dice che l'APU sia dotata di 12 core CPU, un adattatore grafico RDNA 3+ da 16 CU e un motore neurale da 45 TOPS.
