AMD A6-5200

L'AMD A6-5200 è un SoC quad-core mobile per portatili low-end, presentata a metà 2013. In aggiunta ai 4 cores CPU con velocità clock da 2.0 GHz (senza Turbo), questo chip da 28-nm integra anche una GPU Radeon HD 8400, un controller di memoria single channel DDR3(L)-1600 ed una Southbridge con varie porte I/O-.

Architettura

Sia la Kabini (per notebooks) che la Temash (tablets e subnotebooks compatti) si basano sulla nuova architettura AMD Jaguar, che sostituisce i precedenti modelli Bobcat (i.e. l'E-350). Stando ai nostri benchmarks, le prestazioni per clock sono cresciute di circa il 15%. Inoltre, ora sono supportate anche varie istruzioni recenti come l'SSE fino alla versione 4.2, l'AVX e l'AES. Il processo in 28-nm della TSMC consente voltaggi più bassi e/o valori clock superiori rispetto al Bobcat, oltre al fatto di avere fino a 4 cores CPU cores (Bobcat: 2 cores).

Prestazioni

In base all'applicazione, le prestazioni dell'A6-5200 sono tra un Pentium 977 ed un Core i3-3227U. La CPU 4 cores ha buoni risultati nelle applicazioni multi-threaded, ma le prestazioni per core sono abbastanza basse. Tuttavia, l'APU dovrebbe essere sufficiente per tutte le operazioni quotidiane come Office, navigazione Internet e multimedia.

Grafica

Il SoC integra una GPU Radeon HD 8400 con 128 shaders, che si basa sull'architettura GCN ed ha un clock da 600 MHz (senza Turbo). In media, l'HD 8400 equivale ad una Radeon HD 6490M o ad una versione più veloce dell'Intel HD Graphics 4000. Tuttavia, il processore potrebbe limitare le prestazioni con qualche gioco più recente (del 2013). I giochi più vecchi e meno datati dovrebbero essere fluidi.

Consumo Energetico

Il consumo energetico dell'intero SoC è di 25 watts. Pertanto, l'A6-5200 è adatta a portatili da 14-pollici o superiori.
